As the seasonal Rink General Manager, you will serve as the premier leader driving the operational success and vibrant guest experience of our outdoor ice-skating rink. This salaried leadership role offers the unique opportunity to champion a safe, high-energy environment for both staff and visitors while optimizing key resources to keep our pristine facility thriving. As the operational head, you will inspire excellence by training a dedicated team of Assistant Managers and staff, all while projecting the elite professional standards and community-focused values of Willy Bietak Productions (WBP) .
Oversee all assets of the ice rink venue, including online ticketing systems and facility presentation.
Talent & Performance Management:
Interview, hire, onboard, and manage a dynamic team of seasonal employees.
Operational Control:
Oversee daily rink logistics, scaling workflows smoothly during both peak holiday rushes and slower periods. Seamlessly escalate major issues to the Director of Rink Operations (DRO).
Workforce Scheduling:
Architect and distribute employee schedules at least two weeks in advance, managing all shifts via the official timekeeping platform.
Event Coordination:
Partner closely with the Marketing/PR teams to execute successful community events and special promotions and private parties.
Safety & Compliance:
Conduct rigorous bi-weekly safety inspections. Ensure full compliance with Federal, State, and California local employment laws, regulations, and workplace safety best practices.
Inventory Control:
Monitor inventory metrics and proactively order supplies to prevent operational shortages.
Crisis Resolution:
Demonstrate sharp problem-solving skills, adaptability, and emotional poise in a high-velocity public environment. Supervisory Responsibilities Lead and motivate staff to consistently deliver a world-class guest experience. Manage employee schedules, tracking, and digital timekeeping accuracy. Direct the continuous daily workflow of all on-site team members. Conduct and formal document corrective action and performance-coaching conversations and share with DRO. Hold all personnel strictly accountable to WBP standard operating procedures. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong, polished verbal and written communication skills. Excellent time management, prioritization, and delegation strategies. Ability to maintain professional poise, integrity, and absolute confidentiality in high-stress settings. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and modern Point of Sale (POS) systems. Education & Experience Requirements Prior experience managing, scheduling, and training employees is required . A college degree in a related field OR 2-3 years of high-volume customer service/recreational facility management experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, or crouch. Frequently lift and carry physical operational assets up to 20 lbs.
Environment:
Primarily an outdoor work environment. Temperature conditions vary with weather shifts but feature limited direct continuous exposure to extreme elements or hazardous chemicals.
