Beyond Photonics is currently a small but growing privately-owned company focused on developing and commercializing next generation laser and lidar systems. We plan to have ~12 full-time employees at the end of 2026 and given the business opportunities we are engaged in we are targeting ~50% annual growth per year in future years.
Job Overview:
As the Business Operations Manager you will work closely with the president and other company employees to improve and maintain a well-organized work environment that is well positioned for continued growth. You will oversee business activities, manage budgets, and improve company processes to maximize overall company efficiency. Given our current size we seek a business operations manager that has diverse capabilities and can contribute to the company success and growth in a small high-tech company environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain accurate records of contracts and contract deliverables and implement systems that will support team members in completing deliverables.
- Manage timely payments for office and storage space, utilities, vendors, etc.
- Ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing
- Manage procurement and shipping and receiving.
- Maintain well organized process and record keeping.
- Work with other company employees to support business development activities.
- Work with president in improving definition and documentation of company policies and procedures.
- Work with president to maintain company benefits such as health insurance, 401k plans, and paid time off.
- Ensure business procedures follow local laws and safety rules.
- Manage human resource related work, including hiring, onboarding, maintenance of employee records, annual review process, and compliance training as needed.
- Work with president to ensure maintenance of accurate historical financial information.
- Work with president to develop future company budgets and financing needs.
- Interface with payroll service organization
- Self-starter, willing learner, eager to gain and share new knowledge, able to work with minimal supervision, and be a team player.
Required Experience & Skills:
- BS degree or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- 5+ yrs experience in business management, project management, or other business leadership role and/or related administrative positions.
- Proven track record of building and improving operational processes, systems, workflows and documentation as a company grows.
- Must be familiar with QuickBooks so can interface effectively with a bookkeeper
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as needed to communicate effectively with others and support engineers, contractors, and company management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high-level attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating in an environment where processes are still being developed.
Desired Experience & Skills:
- Experience in a technology company
- MBA degree a plus
- Experience with Government Cost Plus Contracts.
