The Grit Ninja is looking for an energetic, responsible, and people-focused Assistant General Manager / Weekend Manager to join our leadership team. This full-time position will provide additional leadership support to our existing management team, with a particular focus on weekend operations, staff leadership, customer experience, events, and program growth . You will work closely with our current Manager to ensure consistency across the gym, support day-to-day operations, and help create an exceptional experience for our members, families, athletes, and guests. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in an active environment, and is comfortable taking ownership and making decisions. Schedule This is a full-time position requiring a regular five-day schedule , including: Saturdays & Sundays Three weekdays Occasional flexibility for special events, staff meetings, or other important business needs Weekend availability is essential. Our weekends are some of our busiest days, with classes, open gym, birthday parties, special events, and new families visiting the facility. Key ResponsibilitiesWeekend Operations & Leadership Take an active leadership role in weekend gym operations. Ensure the facility operates safely, efficiently, and consistently. Supervise and support weekend coaches, front-desk staff, and event staff. Help manage class check-ins, open gym, birthday parties, clinics, and special events. Ensure equipment, training areas, bathrooms, and common areas are clean, organized, and safe. Monitor gym activity and reinforce safety procedures and facility policies. Handle customer questions and concerns professionally. Complete opening and closing responsibilities when assigned. Make sound decisions and take ownership when unexpected situations arise. Management Team Support The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the current Manager to create a strong, collaborative management team.
Responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Manager with day-to-day gym operations. Maintaining consistent procedures, standards, and staff expectations. Communicating regularly regarding staffing, customer feedback, operational issues, and opportunities for improvement. Helping identify problems and taking initiative to solve them. Supporting staff training and development. Helping hold team members accountable to Grit Ninja standards. Assisting with staff scheduling and identifying staffing needs. Communicating important weekend updates, incidents, maintenance concerns, and follow-up items to management. Stepping in to provide leadership and coverage when needed. The goal is a collaborative management structure where responsibilities are shared, communication is strong, and the entire team is working toward the same standards and goals. Customer Experience & Sales A key part of this position will be helping us turn great customer experiences into long-term Grit Ninja relationships.
You will:
Build relationships with families and athletes visiting the gym. Learn about customers' interests and recommend the programs that are the best fit for them. Follow up with families who attend open gym, birthday parties, clinics, special events, and other weekend programs. Help convert weekend events and first-time customer traffic into full program sign-ups . Introduce families to classes, memberships, camps, Team Grit, open gym, birthday parties, and other Grit Ninja offerings. Track leads and follow up with potential customers. Identify opportunities for additional program participation. Help create a customer experience that encourages families to return and become long-term members. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with sales but understands that great sales come from great customer service . You should be able to listen to a family, understand what they're looking for, and confidently guide them toward the right Grit Ninja program. Staff Leadership Lead by example and help create a positive team culture. Support coaches and front-desk employees in delivering excellent customer service. Help train staff on safety, customer service, facility procedures, and Grit Ninja expectations. Provide feedback and coaching when needed. Recognize strong staff performance and help motivate the team. Communicate staff concerns and performance issues to appropriate management. What We're Looking For Previous management, supervisory, coaching, customer-service, hospitality, sports, fitness, or recreation experience preferred. The Ideal Candidate You don't need to be a Ninja Warrior athlete to succeed in this role. We're looking for someone who is confident, energetic, organized, approachable, and proactive . Someone who can lead without needing to be the loudest person in the room. Someone who enjoys working with kids and families, is comfortable taking ownership, and understands that managing a Ninja Warrior gym means being visible and involved.
