Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a General Manager for a growing, entrepreneurial photography company serving families and couples throughout Hawaii. This is a full-time, 100% onsite opportunity based on the Big Island, supporting the Kohala Coast and Kona areas.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Our client is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead a multi-location photography operation with established resort partnerships and a strong presence in Hawaii's tourism market. This unique role blends approximately 80% business and operational leadership with 20% professional photography, overseeing the team, revenue performance, guest experience, resort relationships, scheduling, and financial results while stepping behind the camera when needed. The ideal candidate is a strong business operator and people leader who also brings exceptional portrait photography skills and thrives in a fast-paced, highly seasonal hospitality environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, coach, schedule, train, and develop a team of approximately 10 employees while maintaining strong performance expectations and appropriate seasonal staffing. Oversee day-to-day operations across the photography business, including portrait sessions, event and luau coverage, scheduling, workflow efficiency, and operational systems. Own revenue and sales performance by monitoring session volume, average order value, upsell conversion, guest sales interactions, and other key performance indicators. Manage financial performance, including labor costs, cost of goods, marketing efficiency, and P&L results; identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions. Serve as a key relationship manager for resort partners across the west side of the Big Island while ensuring an exceptional guest experience from initial inquiry through session completion. Provide hands-on photography coverage for scheduling gaps and VIP clients, delivering high-quality outdoor and natural-light family portraits and efficient Lightroom culling and editing.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated success leading teams and managing hiring, scheduling, coaching, performance, and day-to-day operations within hospitality, tourism, retail, photography, or another service-oriented environment. Strong professional portrait photography portfolio with experience photographing families and children in outdoor and natural-light environments. Advanced proficiency with Adobe Lightroom , including efficient culling and editing; familiarity with AI-powered photography tools is a plus. Experience owning revenue targets, KPIs, and financial performance with the ability to understand a P&L, diagnose missed targets, and take action to improve results. Strong guest-service, consultative sales, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with reliable transportation and flexibility to work throughout the Kohala Coast and Kona, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position offers a $60,000 annual base salary plus monthly and quarterly performance bonuses. Target total annual earnings are expected to fall within approximately $80,000-$120,000 , based on individual and business performance, with uncapped performance-based upside.
