Job Description:
Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Retail General Manager to lead day-to-day operations of a high-volume cannabis dispensary. This leader will be responsible for driving revenue, developing a high-performing team, improving employee retention, and delivering an exceptional customer experience while maintaining strict compliance with all company and state regulations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on retail leader who understands how to build a strong culture, coach teams to performance, and turn sales data into actionable strategies. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Retention Lead, coach, and develop the dispensary team to achieve operational and sales goals. Build a positive, accountable culture focused on engagement, teamwork, and employee retention. Recruit, interview, onboard, and train team members while maintaining strong staffing levels. Establish clear performance expectations and conduct regular coaching and performance reviews. Identify retention risks and proactively address employee concerns, morale, and development opportunities. Develop future leaders through consistent training, mentorship, and succession planning. Revenue & Sales Growth Own store-level revenue, sales performance, and profitability goals. Analyze sales trends, customer behavior, product performance, and KPIs to identify opportunities for growth. Develop and execute strategies to increase average transaction value, customer frequency, and overall store revenue. Partner with regional and corporate leadership on promotions, product launches, pricing strategies, and sales initiatives. Hold the team accountable to daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets. Recognize top performers and implement coaching plans when performance falls below expectations. Retail Operations Oversee all daily dispensary operations, including opening/closing, staffing, inventory, cash handling, customer service, and facility standards. Ensure the store operates efficiently while maintaining a premium customer experience. Monitor inventory levels, product assortment, shrink, and sell-through. Maintain accurate records and ensure all transactions and inventory movements are completed according to company procedures. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement solutions that improve productivity and profitability. Customer Experience Create a welcoming, knowledgeable, and consistent customer experience. Coach employees on product knowledge, consultative selling, and customer engagement. Monitor customer feedback and develop strategies to improve satisfaction and loyalty. Resolve escalated customer issues professionally and effectively. Build a strong local customer base and encourage repeat business. Compliance Ensure full compliance with state cannabis regulations and company policies. Maintain strict adherence to Metrc , point-of-sale procedures, inventory controls, security protocols, and regulatory requirements. Ensure employees understand and follow all applicable SOPs. Support internal and regulatory audits and promptly address compliance issues. Qualifications 3+ years of retail management experience, preferably in a high-volume environment. Cannabis dispensary management experience not needed Proven track record of driving sales and improving revenue performance. Demonstrated success hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing teams. Strong understanding of retail KPIs, labor management, inventory, and profitability. Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills. Ability to analyze business performance and translate data into actionable strategies. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Must be able to work a flexible retail schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must meet all state and local requirements for working in the cannabis industry.
