Job Description

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/PUBLIC HEALTH ADMINISTRATOR FULL-TIME EXEMPT
Executive Director Responsibilities:
Serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Health, delegated with full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the health department. Requires the ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and administrative capacity in planning, directing and coordinating the department including thorough understanding of the science of attrition and is willing to implement in order to create a stable public health workforce. Requires detailed knowledge of the development and enforcement of respective ordinances. Requires the ability to explain existing laws, rules, and regulations and to exercise good judgment in applying departmental policies to daily work problems.
Schedule:
Onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 am
  • 4:00 pm.
Position requires some evenings and weekends, as directed, to meet responsibilities of position.
Benefits:
Base Salary
  • $124,000 per year Approximately 14.5 paid holidays per year (holidays approved each year by Kendall County Board) Paid Vacation Time

Executive Director Qualifications/Skills:
Requires extensive knowledge of supervisory and leadership practice. Requires the ability to motivate and inspire staff to achieve the highest degree of productivity. Requires the ability to identify and assess current and emerging community health needs. Requires detailed knowledge of principles and modern practices of public administration, including specific management principles in the fields of fiscal sustainability, internal controls, risk management, personnel, purchasing, and general budgetary and fiscal practices.
Executive Director Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Doctoral degree preferred. Master's degree in a related field required. Two years' full-time administrative experience in public health. Four years of robust public health experience and personnel management required. Must have a valid Illinois driver's license and the ability to pass a background check.
