PCM is looking to hire a full-time Assistant Manager for a growing sow unit near Pillager, MN .

• This role will also serve as the farm's Assistant Manager.

As the Assistant Manager, you will also play a very important part in our success as a quality pork producer through your excellent leadership of the gestation unit. You will report to the Unit Manager and work collaboratively in guiding all aspects of staff management, development of the team, pig production, unit upkeep, compliance and safety. This position typically works up to 40+ hours/week, Monday through Friday and every third weekend. Responsibilities :

Leads all areas of production; including to o Monitor pregnancy check and breeding expectations. o Regulates environmental controls for unit, including alarm systems. o Manages feeding systems and strategies. o Monitors medication usage in unit. o Monitors semen usage and orders. o Monitors gilt flow plan. o Assists in coordinating and implementing the health program with Veterinarian. Assists in all areas of personnel management: o Assist in coaching, performance management, training and development of the team. o Prepare daily, weekly and monthly work schedules. o Meets regularly with the team to ensure good communication and teamwork; and assist in resolving conflicts. o Leads by example to support a culture of safety and animal welfare. o Enforces without exception the bio-security program. o Work closely with Unit Manager on determining hiring needs and assist with the hiring process.

• Continually seeks to improve processes; proposing new ideas and implementing solutions.
• Makes fiscally responsible decisions.
• Assists with the maintenance of facility and upkeep of the site.

Required Qualifications 1. High school diploma or GED diploma; or equivalent related experience. 2. Leadership experience with a swine or livestock role. 3. Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented. 4. Ability to read and understand work procedures, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions. 5. Ability to interact effectively with employees, veterinarians, owners, vendors, and all levels of the organization. 6. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 7. Must be able to work every third weekend. 8. Must have valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications 1. Lead or management experience on a farm larger than 2,500 sows or equivalent related experience.
