Accucare is a trusted, family-owned home medical equipment provider based in Asheville, NC , serving 20 counties across Western North Carolina. For nearly two decades we have specialized in respiratory care (including hard-to-find infant and pediatric solutions), sleep therapy, oxygen systems, DME, orthotics, and related supplies. We are ACHC-accredited and known for compassionate, high-touch service that patients and referral partners count on. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to own the day-to-day performance of the business, drive operational excellence, and serve as Compliance Officer and Performance Improvement Coordinator. This is a visible leadership role with direct impact on patient care quality, team development, and company growth—right here in Asheville. Why This Role Matters You will shape the culture, systems, and results of a local company that makes a real difference in patients' lives—especially the most vulnerable (infants, children, and adults with complex respiratory needs). You will work closely with the Owner while leading a multidisciplinary team and having the authority to improve processes, develop people, and strengthen compliance and service standards. What You'll Own Recruit, hire, develop, and direct the team (Payroll/Admin, Purchasing, Customer Care, Billing, Sales & Marketing, Respiratory Care, and DME Technicians) Build and run internal systems that measure, assess, and continuously improve company performance Ensure consistently high-quality patient service and operational excellence Lead regular supervisor meetings, conduct annual performance evaluations, and set clear goals with follow-through Partner with the Owner to develop the annual budget and actively manage expenses Serve as Compliance Officer and Performance Improvement Coordinator—maintain full regulatory and accreditation compliance, implement best practices, and participate in surveys and inspections Delegate effectively while remaining accountable for results Contribute to company committees, in-service education, and your own continuing professional development
What We're Looking For Required:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the home medical equipment (DME) industry, with a solid understanding of DME operations, billing, and compliance requirements. Proven ability to organize, plan, and lead teams—plus the judgment to make timely, sound decisions Strong organizational skills and a track record of maintaining accurate records and processes Solid computer proficiency (spreadsheets, word processing, internet research and tools) A leadership style that balances accountability with development and high standards of patient care Why Join Accucare?
