Job Description

Assistant Manager Garden State Car Wash Howell, NJ | Full time salaried | 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM | On site Approximately $60,000 per year depending on experience and mechanical skill About us Garden State Car Wash is a busy full service location in Howell offering exterior and interior car wash, detail, oil change, and light auto repair. We are a growing family owned operation and we run a tight ship. We are looking for an Assistant Manager who can help us run the day to day, take care of our customers, and keep the operation moving. About the role This is a hands on working role.
Two things matter most:
you are great with customers, and you can fix equipment when it breaks. Everything else can be learned. Cars are lined up. A customer is upset about a scratch. The kiosk just froze during a rush. That is when we need you. You handle the customer, get the kiosk running again, and keep the operation moving. The role reports directly to the owner and the operations lead. What you will do Handle customers directly, resolve complaints on the spot, keep every customer feeling taken care of Fix mechanical and equipment issues as they come up: kiosks, wash equipment, dryers, vacuums, card readers, basic repairs. Must be able to diagnose fast and get things running again Run the shift on the floor, keeping the wash bays and front of house moving Oversee the crew: assign tasks, coach on quality, hold the team to standards Manage the front desk and make sure the kiosks are operating correctly and serving customers well Schedule the crew and manage call outs and coverage Responsible for opening the location in the morning and closing at the end of the day Keep the property clean, safe, and presentable at all times What you need Strong customer service instincts. You are calm under pressure, you handle upset customers well, and you leave every interaction better than you found it Real mechanical aptitude. You are handy, you know your way around tools, and when equipment breaks you diagnose and fix it rather than waiting for a service call Ability to lead a crew and hold people accountable without drama Willingness to work weekends. Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest days when weather permits Reliable transportation and a clean driving record Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus, not required What makes this a good fit You like being on your feet, in the operation, solving problems as they come up You take pride in the small things: a clean lot, a well stocked kiosk, a customer who leaves happy You want to grow. This role has a real path to Location Manager for the right person You are looking for a stable long term position with a growing family owned business What this is not Not a desk job. You will be on your feet, in the operation, most of the day Not remote Compensation Approximately $60,000 per year, depending on experience and mechanical expertise Full time salaried position Clear path to Location Manager for the right performer Family owned operation with long term stability To apply, send your resume and a short note explaining your background running or supervising a service operation. Applications without a cover letter will not be reviewed.
