Job Description
The Mission :
To manage the financial and business aspects of our operations as outlined below, faithfully stewarding our resources entrusted to the church so that we operate smoothly and in compliance with all legal, ethical, and operational policies.Requirements :
To fulfill this mission requires the highest standard of integrity and trustworthiness; a commitment to confidentiality with personal and financial information; financial acumen; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; a cooperative attitude toward staff, parishioners, and vendors; skill in problem solving; timeliness in preparing and delivering reports; and, skill in communicating to the congregation and its leadership. Further requirements include : a background in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management; and familiarity with accounting software. The Treasurer/Business Manager essentially serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the church, seeing that all financial matters—all assets, liabilities and records—are handled securely, legally, and ethically. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintaining accurate records of church finances Overseeing the receipt and recording of all income Ensures that weekly counters are available each week Ensuring that payroll, bills, and all other obligations are paid on time Overseeing the disbursement and recording of all expenditures Ensuring that invoices, checks and check requests are processed in accordance with financial operating procedures Ensuring that deposits are made securely in accordance with financial operating procedures Ensuring that bank statements are reconciled Managing payroll and working directly with a payroll company Preparing the monthly financial reports for the Finance Committee and the Vestry; and offering advice on financial health and sustainability Working with the Rector and Vestry to establish spending priorities Filing and required forms to governments (local, state, and federal) Filing required forms required by our diocese or the national church Ensuring payment of the diocesan assessments Providing the congregation with financial updates and individuals with quarterly and annual giving statements Leading the budgeting process Overseeing internal controls to protect the assets of the church. Preparing information for the annual audit • Office management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assists in the oversight of the day-to-day work of the program and support (viz., non-clergy) staff in consort with the Rector Assists in the hiring and evaluation of the program and support (viz., non-clergy) in consort with the Rector Assists the Property Chair and Facilities Manager/Head Sexton with oversight of the property, equipment, and supplies; and in oversight of the agreements, contracts, and routine maintenance of the buildingPay:
