DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this structured and specialized training program, you will learn to support the entire hiring process for assigned facilities by providing technical advice, support, and guidance to help fill vacancies and ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to hiring activities in alignment with agency policy. As an Administration and Management Trainee, you will learn and perform the following duties:
Hiring Guidance:
Research and evaluate data to determine the best strategies for attracting qualified candidates and provide technical guidance to hiring managers about the options and resources available
Interview Support:
Assist with coordination and scheduling; provide examples and guidance to ensure all questions are work-related and appropriate; and help managers navigate selection processes
Applicant Contact:
Explain application and hiring processes to both internal and external candidates, help identify opportunities for employment and upward mobility, and facilitate onboarding activities
Pay Analysis:
Compare pay scales and requirements to provide hiring managers with pay placement options that ensure employees are compensated in compliances with appropriate processes, procedures, and union contracts
Hire Action Processing:
Verify and coordinate final hiring steps including background checks, enterprise position action request (ePAR) processing, and candidate notifications
Customer Service:
Review and analyze complaints related to employment or promotion practices; respond to emails and phone calls regarding this and other guidance, support, contact, and analysis provided in this role Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
