This role is ideal for individuals looking to grow their leadership skills within the automotive industry while contributing to a high-performing team. As an Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Service Manager to oversee shop operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and drive business performance. You will assist in supervising staff, managing workflow, and maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency. This position serves as a key leadership role and stepping stone to a future Service Manager position. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Support Deliver a superior customer experience by greeting customers, assessing their needs, and recommending appropriate services Clearly communicate service options, pricing, and timelines in a professional and transparent manner Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction Assist in driving sales by identifying maintenance and repair opportunities Promote additional services and products to meet customer needs and increase revenue Team Support & Leadership Assist in supervising and supporting automotive technicians and service staff Help train, coach, and mentor team members to improve performance and skill development Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, strong work ethic, and accountability Step in to manage operations in the absence of the Service Manager Daily Operations Support the management of daily shop workflow, including scheduling and job prioritization Ensure timely completion of services while maintaining high-quality standards Assist with opening and closing procedures Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations Administrative Duties Assist with inventory management, including ordering parts and tracking supplies Maintain accurate service records and documentation Support payroll, scheduling, and basic reporting functions Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle customer transactions Monitor shop performance metrics and report to management Technical Support Provide basic technical guidance to team members when needed Assist with vehicle inspections and minor service tasks when required Ensure all work meets company quality standards and manufacturer recommendations Stay informed on industry trends, tools, and best practices Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent 2-4 years of experience in automotive service, retail, or a related field Strong customer service and communication skills Basic knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair services Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Willingness to learn and take on leadership responsibilities Preferred Previous supervisory or leadership experience Experience in automotive service or tire industry Familiarity with POS systems and service management software ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification (or willingness to obtain) Sales or upselling experience Skills & Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills Leadership potential and team-building ability Problem-solving and decision-making skills Time management and organizational abilities Customer-focused mindset Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise, heat, and automotive equipment Work Schedule Full-time position with flexible scheduling Availability to work weekends and occasional evenings based on business needs Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay or salary (based on experience) Performance-based incentives and bonuses Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Employee discounts on automotive services Training and career advancement opportunities Career Growth Opportunities The Assistant Manager role is designed as a development position with a clear path to advancement.
