Senior Vice President of Business Development Firearms Industry
Job Description
A privately held, well-capitalized Florida-based company with established interests in the firearms industry is conducting a confidential search for an experienced firearms-industry executive to help lead its next stage of growth. This is not a conventional sales position. We are seeking an individual who has spent a substantial portion of their career within the U.S. firearms industry and has developed meaningful senior-level relationships with firearms manufacturers, distributors, national and regional dealers, FFLs and other major industry participants. The ideal candidate is already known and respected within the firearms industry and can personally open doors to significant dealers, manufacturers and industry decision-makers. Responsibilities Build and expand relationships with significant U.S. firearms dealers and FFLs. Establish and deepen senior-level relationships with major firearms manufacturers and distributors. Recruit leading dealers and industry participants into a new national technology-driven firearms marketplace. Develop manufacturer, distributor and dealer partnerships. Help establish a national dealer acquisition and retention program. Identify strategic partnerships, acquisitions, joint ventures and other commercial opportunities. Advise ownership and senior leadership on firearms-industry strategy and market opportunities. Represent the company at major industry events, dealer meetings and manufacturer meetings. Provide market intelligence regarding dealers, manufacturers, distributors, collectors and competitive platforms. Assist in the development and growth of multiple firearms-related businesses and initiatives. Help recruit additional senior industry talent as the organization expands. Candidate Profile We are particularly interested in candidates who have held leadership positions such as: VP or SVP of Sales VP of Business Development VP of Dealer Development VP of Commercial Operations Chief Commercial Officer President, COO or comparable senior firearms-industry leadership position Relevant experience may come from firearms manufacturers, distributors, major dealers, industry suppliers, marketplaces or other nationally recognized firearms businesses. The most important qualification is not title alone. We want someone with substantial personal relationships throughout the firearms dealer and manufacturing community. Candidates should be able to demonstrate meaningful relationships with several of the following: Major national firearms dealers High-volume independent FFLs Dealer and buying groups Firearms manufacturers Manufacturer presidents and senior sales executives National and regional distributors Industry associations Firearms media organizations Major collectors and industry influencers Required Qualifications Significant professional experience within the U.S. firearms industry. Demonstrated senior-level dealer, manufacturer and/or distributor relationships. Experience developing national accounts, dealer networks, strategic partnerships or comparable industry relationships. Strong understanding of the U.S. firearms industry and its major participants. Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States. Executive-level communication, judgment and credibility. This role is not intended for a general consumer-products executive attempting to enter the firearms industry, a traditional outside salesperson, or someone whose industry relationships are primarily at junior purchasing or sales-representative levels. Location and Travel The company is based in Florida, but immediate relocation is not required for the right candidate. However preferable. This is a national role involving significant travel. Approximately 50% or more travel should be expected for dealer visits, manufacturer meetings, trade shows and other industry activities. Appropriate business travel expenses will be covered. When not traveling, the executive may work remotely. Periodic meetings in Florida will be required. Compensation Expected base compensation is approximately $150,000-$225,000 annually, depending on experience, industry relationships and responsibilities. The overall compensation structure may also include: Performance-based incentive compensation Long-term incentive participation Potential equity or equity-equivalent participation for an exceptional candidate Business travel and appropriate executive expenses
