Are you a visionary leader with a passion for culinary art, innovation, and student success? Join us as a Board Director for Campus Dining to take our campus dining program to the next level! As the driving force behind our residential dining experience, you'll lead a talented team, collaborate with university partners, and deliver high-quality, student-focused meals that nourish minds and bodies. From culinary creativity to budget management, you'll oversee it all—ensuring every plate serves excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality Management, Public Administration, or a related field required; prior board leadership or governance experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated strategic thinking and leadership abilities, with a proven capacity to support organizational vision, mission, and long-term goals. Strong understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and internal controls, with the ability to analyze data and support sound fiscal decision-making. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, team members, vendors, and community partners. Commitment to the organization's mission, values, and ethical standards, consistently demonstrating integrity, professionalism, accountability, and sound judgment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Public Administration, Finance, Law, Education, or a related field preferred; advanced degree desirable. Previous experience serving on a board of directors, advisory board, nonprofit board, or in executive leadership roles strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to provide strategic guidance, governance oversight, and organizational direction. Strong understanding of board governance principles, fiduciary responsibilities, policy development, and ethical leadership practices. Knowledge of financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management, with the ability to review and interpret financial statements effectively. Ability to think strategically and contribute to long-term planning, organizational growth, and mission-driven decision-making. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with board members, executive leadership, community stakeholders, and external partners. Commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values, demonstrating integrity, accountability, professionalism, and sound judgment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive organizational matters. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and provide constructive recommendations. Experience in fundraising, community engagement, advocacy, higher education, hospitality, dining services, nonprofit management, or public service is considered a plus. Ability to dedicate sufficient time for board meetings, committee participation, strategic planning sessions, and organizational events. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8-10 hours per day, particularly during peak service times. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds, including food products, trays, and small equipment. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and stretching during service preparation, facility inspections, and operational support. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-traffic dining environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. Manual dexterity to safely operate kitchen, office, and point-of-sale (POS) equipment. Visual acuity to assess food presentation, cleanliness, safety standards, and staff performance. Ability to taste and smell food products to ensure quality assurance and food safety standards. Mobility to move throughout large dining facilities and between multiple service stations efficiently. Ability to occasionally climb or use step stools/ladders to access supplies and inspect equipment.
