Job Description

GENERAL MANAGER
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a lumber yard and building materials location. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands lumber, building materials, customers, inventory, and yard operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily lumber yard, sales, purchasing, inventory, and delivery operations.
  • Lead, train, and develop branch and yard employees.
  • Manage inventory levels, purchasing, and expense control.
  • Oversee delivery operations and equipment/fleet maintenance.
  • Manage branch P&L, budgets, sales, and profitability.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, builders, and customers.
  • Drive safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement throughout the yard.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in a lumber yard, building materials, contractor supply, or similar environment.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of lumber and building materials operations.
  • Experience with inventory, purchasing, deliveries, and customer service.
  • Working knowledge of P&L and branch profitability.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working both inside the branch and outside in the yard.
