Job Description

About the Role We're looking for an energetic, organized, and people-focused Assistant General Manager to help lead our kids ninja gym. This is a key leadership position and serves as the second-in-command, working closely with the owners to create an exceptional experience for our ninja families while driving the day-to-day success of the business. You'll be a highly visible leader in the gym—building relationships with families, developing coaches, leading classes, growing our daytime programming, and making sure the gym runs smoothly. What You'll Own Gym Operations & Member Experience Serve as a primary point of contact between the owners, staff, and gym community Create a welcoming, energetic, and fun environment for members and prospective families Build strong relationships with members and provide exceptional customer service Resolve member questions and concerns and help families navigate gym programs and policies Oversee the day-to-day appearance, cleanliness, safety, and organization of the gym Manage equipment maintenance and Pro Shop inventory Communicate important updates, events, and opportunities to members Membership Growth & Family Engagement Own the growth of our daytime programming and help maximize existing class capacity Manage new leads, trial follow-up, reminders, and lead nurturing Help prospective families understand our programs and confidently transition from trial to membership Track key business metrics and use them to make informed decisions Identify opportunities to improve member satisfaction, engagement, and retention Help plan and promote member and community events that drive engagement and business growth Represent the gym at select local events and community activities Classes & Coaching Serve as a lead instructor for approximately 25 coaching hours per week Lead group classes for children of different ages and skill levels Manage class flow, pacing, timekeeping, safety, and programming Teach proper technique and body mechanics while helping students progress through our ninja program Create a fun, encouraging environment that builds confidence and motivation Provide real-time coaching and feedback to other instructors Camps, Parties & Events Own the birthday party and field trip experience from booking through completion Manage party and field trip communication, preparation, and on-site execution Own the camp calendar and ensure camps are planned, marketed, staffed, and ready to go Manage camp lead to develop camp themes, activities, and programming Plan and execute special member and community events Assist the Lead Instructor with course planning and development as needed Team Leadership Recruit, hire, train, and develop a strong team of youth instructors Create staff schedules and ensure appropriate coverage Coach and mentor instructors through hands-on training and real-time feedback Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable Help develop junior coaches and create opportunities for them to grow Address performance issues and participate in disciplinary decisions when needed Lead by example and contribute wherever the team needs support What We're Looking For 1-2+ years of leadership or management experience preferred Experience working with children in a coaching, teaching, fitness, recreation, or similar environment Strong leadership and team-building skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Comfortable talking with parents, addressing concerns, and building relationships Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities Comfortable using technology and learning new systems quickly Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Energetic, positive, and willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside the team Passion for fitness, athletics, and helping kids build confidence and physical skills Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the owners and leadership team Ninja experience is not required. We will provide training on our programs, equipment, and coaching methods. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position.
The ability to:
Stand and walk for extended periods Frequently bend, crouch, reach, and move throughout the gym Project your voice and confidently lead groups of children Lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Work in a physically active environment throughout the day
Schedule & Compensation Full-time:
Approximately 40 hours per week Regular days off:
Monday and Tuesday Pay:
Starting at $50,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Plus, goal bonuses.
