Job Description

Overview:
As a General Manager for Spark Dealer Group, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance and daily execution of multiple branch locations within an assigned market. You will lead and develop Branch Managers, ensure consistent operational standards, drive financial and sales performance, and promote exceptional customer service across all assigned locations. The General Manager serves as the primary link between Branch Managers and Division leadership and is accountable for ensuring each branch operates efficiently and in alignment with company objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to Branch Managers across multiple locations within the assigned market. Hold Branch Managers accountable for the day-to-day performance of their locations, including sales, customer service, service operations, inventory management, staffing, and administrative functions. Establish consistent operating expectations across branches and ensure company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and industry best practices are followed. Monitor branch performance against sales, gross margin, profitability, expense, inventory, and other key performance objectives and develop corrective action plans when needed. Partner with Branch Managers to develop and execute strategies that drive sales growth, improve market penetration, and strengthen customer relationships. Review sales and operational data across locations to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring improvement. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and assist Branch Managers with the resolution of significant customer concerns or service issues. Develop Branch Managers through regular coaching, performance feedback, accountability, and leadership development plans. Support recruiting, staffing, succession planning, and employee development across assigned branches to maintain strong leadership and appropriate staffing levels. Review branch budgets, forecasts, financial reports, and operating expenses and hold branch leadership accountable for financial performance. Oversee inventory performance across assigned locations, including inventory levels, accuracy, aging, transfers, shrink, and overall asset control. Promote collaboration between branches to improve resource utilization, inventory movement, staffing support, and customer service. Conduct regular branch visits and operational reviews to evaluate performance, facility standards, employee engagement, customer experience, and compliance with company expectations. Build and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers, and community partners and support Branch Managers with strategic accounts as needed. Support the implementation of company initiatives, new processes, systems, programs, and organizational changes across assigned locations. Prepare and communicate market performance results, key business insights, risks, and opportunities to the Division Manager and Executive Team. Work closely with other General Managers and company leadership to ensure alignment with broader company goals and initiatives.
Required Skills, Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education. Minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience, including experience leading managers or multiple locations; outdoor power equipment, equipment dealership, distribution, or related retail experience preferred. Strong leadership, coaching, team development, and performance management abilities. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple locations and priorities while maintaining consistent standards and accountability. Strong understanding of sales, operations, customer service, inventory management, and financial performance. Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and expense control. Ability to analyze data, identify trends, solve problems, and make informed business decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. Familiarity with outdoor power equipment products and industry standards is preferred. Proficiency in business management software, including C Systems or Ideal and inventory management tools. Ability and willingness to travel regularly between assigned branch locations.
