Assistant General Manager Gin Mill Card Club | Lubbock, TX Gin Mill Card Club is seeking an experienced, dependable leader with strong poker room knowledge, sound judgment, and a commitment to exceptional service. The ideal candidate can confidently manage daily operations, support and develop staff, resolve concerns professionally, and maintain a welcoming, well-run environment for members and guests. Position Summary Working under limited supervision, the Assistant General Manager partners with management to establish and achieve poker room goals and objectives. This position oversees daily club operations, upholds established procedures and internal controls, and provides leadership that promotes professionalism, accountability, and consistent service. Reporting Relationships Reports to the Founder, General Manager, and HR Director. Supervises employees as assigned. Key Responsibilities Poker Room Operations Oversee daily operations of Gin Mill Card Club. Maintain a thorough understanding of the procedure manuals and rules for all games supervised. Monitor and enforce dealing procedures, ensuring personal and staff compliance. Manage dealer rotations and coordinate staffing and work schedules to support operational needs. Follow and enforce Gin Mill Card Club's internal controls. Protect sensitive equipment and ensure proper handling. Maintain accurate attendance and timekeeping records. Prepare standard operational reports and documents. Staff Leadership and Development Provide clear direction, leadership, and motivation to assigned employees. Train and develop poker dealers to strengthen technical skills, procedural consistency, and customer service. Counsel and coach dealers on procedural concerns and initiate corrective action when necessary. Apply personnel management practices consistently, treating employees firmly, fairly, and respectfully. Serve as a professional role model and promote teamwork, accountability, and commitment to the club. Member and Guest Experience Deliver excellent customer service and hold employees to the same standard. Address customer questions, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally. Exercise sound judgment when resolving situations that require interpretation of established procedures. Promote club memberships and maintain accurate membership tracking. Tournaments, Jackpots, and Promotions Oversee the administration of tournaments, jackpots, and club promotions. Apply tournament rules and procedures accurately and consistently. Administer bad beat jackpot procedures and payouts in accordance with club requirements. Ensure staff understand and follow applicable event and promotional procedures. Perform additional duties as needed or assigned. Qualifications and Skills Thorough knowledge of poker game rules, dealing procedures, and poker room operations. Ability to supervise, direct, coach, and motivate employees. Ability to plan and implement staffing schedules and dealer rotations. Strong customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Sound judgment and the ability to make fair, consistent decisions in complex or ambiguous situations. Knowledge of tournament administration and bad beat jackpot procedures and payouts. Knowledge of attendance tracking and timekeeping practices. Ability to prepare accurate reports and standard business documents. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Schedule Requirements Must be available to work irregular hours, including weekends and overtime, as operational needs require. Compensation Wages are determined based on the applicant's relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
