Job Description

ABOUT HANLEY CONSTRUCTION
Hanley Construction is a family-owned roofing company serving the Kitsap Peninsula, and we're on the rise. We've built our reputation the hard way: doing the job right, treating customers like family, and standing behind our work when nobody's watching. Now we're leveling up. We're modernizing our systems, sharpening our processes, and building the operating infrastructure to carry us through the next stage of growth. We're looking for a General Manager to run it and grow it with us.
THE ROLE
As General Manager, you're the senior operating leader running Hanley day-to-day. Hanley has invested in the foundation. The systems, workflows, stage gates, KPIs, and documentation are designed and in place. Your job is to run the business, hold department heads accountable, drive real EBITDA growth, and act as the President's right hand in every operational decision. You'll be the second-in-command. When the President is out of the office or focused on strategic relationships and high-value clients, you're the person who runs the company. You'll lead the weekly leadership cadence, own the operating rhythm across sales, production, finance, and marketing, and hold department managers accountable to their KPIs. You'll also work directly with the President on growth planning, capacity decisions, and the leadership bench as Hanley scales toward its next growth milestone.
Note on scope:
this role initially combines General Manager and Operations Manager responsibilities. As Hanley scales, a dedicated Operations Manager may be added to report to the GM. At that point the GM's role shifts from directly owning operational execution to holding the Operations Manager accountable for it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead the weekly leadership cadence: scorecard review, issues list, decisions across departments Hold department managers (Sales, Production, Controller, Marketing) accountable to their KPIs and commitments Act as decision-maker in the President's absence for operational and personnel matters within defined authority Own the operating system: cadence, handoffs, stage gates, KPI discipline Drive EBITDA improvement through operational efficiency, margin discipline, and revenue leakage prevention Drive revenue growth toward and beyond the $15M annual revenue target Partner with the Controller on P&L discipline, job costing accuracy, and financial reporting rhythm Own the tech stack: AccuLynx and adjacent systems, integrations, and future tool decisions Support hiring across the organization: role definition, candidate interviewing, onboarding infrastructure Manage vendor and platform relationships for operational systems and office facilities Lead quarterly business reviews with the leadership team and President Sync with outside consultants and advisors to ensure full company alignment on strategy and execution Own company culture and internal communication rhythm
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
7+ years in operations, general management, or senior operating roles, ideally including prior GM, COO, or Ops Director responsibility Direct experience holding department managers accountable and running weekly operating cadences Strong financial acumen: comfortable in P&L, EBITDA, job costing, and KPI-driven management Comfortable working directly in CRMs, admin panels, integrations, automations, and complex spreadsheets. You don't wait for someone else to figure out how a system works. AccuLynx experience is a big plus Proven ability to build and enforce SOPs, workflows, and cross-functional handoffs Strong people leadership skills. You can motivate, coach, and hold people accountable simultaneously. Data literate. Comfortable in KPIs, dashboards, and reporting logic. Change management experience. You've introduced new systems and processes without blowing up day-to-day operations. Excellent writing and documentation skills Roofing, construction, or trades experience is a strong plus but not required. The operational skill set matters more than the industry.
WHAT HANLEY OFFERS
Base salary: $125,000 to $150,000 depending on experience Annual performance bonus: up to 25% of base (up to $37,500 at top of range), tied to hitting company EBITDA growth targets set annually with the President Growth milestone bonus: $50,000 lump sum when Hanley reaches $15 million in annual revenue Real ownership: you're not executing someone else's playbook. You're running and improving the one we built. Direct line to the President and a seat at the leadership table Health insurance allowance provided monthly on paycheck Paid Time Off (structure discussed at offer) Simple IRA with 3% employer match Company vehicle with fuel card Company phone and laptop Growth-stage company actively investing in its people, systems, and future
HOW TO APPLY
Apply directly through Indeed. Qualified candidates will be contacted for a phone screen, followed by a panel interview with the leadership team. Pre-employment background check and drug screen required. Hanley Construction is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
