The Opportunity The Executive Director leads Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County to ensure the agency's mission, strategy, values, and goals are achieved — and that our mentoring programs serve the youth of Fond du Lac County effectively and sustainably. This is a hands-on leadership role spanning strategy, fundraising, board partnership, staff development, and community representation. What You'll Do Lead strategic planning — Develop and drive the organization's strategic plan, working collaboratively with the Board and staff, and use performance data to guide decisions. Grow philanthropic support — Lead fundraising, donor engagement, grant development, and community partnerships. Build and sustain relationships with individual, foundation, and corporate donors. Build a strong team — Attract, retain, and develop talented, diverse staff. Create an engaged, high-performing culture with clear goals and regular feedback. Ensure financial health — Oversee agency finances, fiscal controls, and long-term sustainability, balancing financial strength with program quality. Drive program impact — Grow and support a strong base of volunteer mentors reflecting our community, with child safety as a top priority. Partner with the Board — Support Board development and governance, prepare regular reporting and the annual budget, and attend all Board meetings. Represent the agency — Serve as the public face of BBBSFDL with media, partners, and policymakers to build our brand and generate support. Maintain affiliate standards — Ensure ongoing compliance with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) national standards and reporting requirements. What We're Looking For Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field required. 7+ years of proven results building an organization and achieving outcomes; nonprofit or youth development experience strongly preferred. Skills & Abilities Strategic thinking and systems-level planning Entrepreneurial approach to limited resources Ability to manage for short-, mid-, and long-term results Strong interpersonal, team-building, and stakeholder management skills Excellent verbal and written communication Board development and fund development experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; donor database/CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce) a plus Demonstrated integrity and sound ethical judgment, with proven ability to work effectively and build trust with diverse groups of people Strong service orientation across youth, families, volunteers, and community partners Experience leading organizational change and continuous improvement Travel & Physical Requirements Ability to travel throughout the community and surrounding areas; occasional regional or overnight travel for conferences, training, and BBBSA meetings Valid driver's license Ability to sit/stand for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 25 lbs, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing Why Join Us You'll lead an organization with a proven, measurable impact on kids in our community — with the support of an engaged Board and a passionate staff team behind you.
