Position Details Position Information Job Type Non-Faculty Position Title Program Manager - McNair Position Number E00158 Department Trio Programs Location Morehouse College - Atlanta, GA Position Summary The Program Manager provides leadership, oversight, and coordination of the McNair Scholars Program (MSP), funded by a 5-year grant by the U.S. Department of Education TRIO office. This federally funded TRIO program is designed to prepare low-income, first-generation college students and students from underrepresented backgrounds for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The Program Manager will serve as supervisor of the project, conducting financial management, budget oversight and allocation, personnel recruitment and management, and oversee the fulfillment of program objectives including identifying first-generation, low-income students as well as students underrepresented in graduate education to participate in the program. Required Qualifications Any combination equivalent to: Master's Degree and two years' of grant management experience with experience supporting diverse populations of students. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education/Experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Barriers to academic achievement unique to low-income, first generation, and minority student populations and strategies to overcome such barriers Basic concepts and principles of research design Academic advising of students Personnel management Problem solving techniques Program development, management, and evaluation Grant management Physical Demands Essential Duties/Responsibilities Essential Duties/Responsiblities Program Coordination & Compliance Oversee daily operations and ensure implementation of all grant-funded activities Maintain compliance with federal regulations, program guidelines, and institutional policies Prepare and submit annual performance reports (APR), program assessments, and other required documentation Student Recruitment, Retention & Support Develop and execute recruitment strategies to identify eligible students Monitor academic progress, research engagement, and graduate school preparation Provide advisement, mentoring, and support services to program participants Research & Graduate Preparation Activities Coordinate summer research internships and faculty-mentored research experiences Plan and implement workshops, seminars, and graduate school application support Organize and lead educational and cultural enrichment activities, graduate school visits, and conferences Budget & Grant Management Assist in the management and monitoring of the program budget and expenditures Procure materials, coordinate vendor services, and ensure proper use of grant funds Maintain accurate participant and financial records in accordance with federal regulations Collaboration & Supervision Supervise part-time staff, student assistants, and peer mentors as applicable Collaborate with faculty, departments, and external partners to enhance participant opportunities Serve as liaison to campus offices including Financial Aid, Registrar, and Academic Advising Other Responsibilities Maintain an updated database of participant eligibility and services provided Participate in TRIO-related conferences, training, and professional development Perform other duties as assigned in support of TRIO and institutional goals Percentage Of Time Posting Detail Information Posting Number S1481P Number of Vacancies 1 Job Open Date 09/15/2026 Job Close Date Open Until Filled No Special Instructions Summary EEO Statement Summary Morehouse College is an equal opportunity employer.
