Position Summary:

The AHEC Regional Program Coordinator supports and advances rural healthcare workforce development initiatives across the West Central Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC), with a primary focus on healthcare career pathways, student engagement, mentorship, and regional workforce development. This position coordinates and implements healthcare workforce pipeline programming serving students from middle school through college and professional training. The Coordinator works with schools, colleges and universities, healthcare organizations, community partners, and students to increase awareness of healthcare careers, strengthen pathways into healthcare education and employment, and support the development of a sustainable rural healthcare workforce. The Coordinator works under the direction and supervision of the AHEC Director and contributes to Rural Health Transformation (RHT) workforce priorities and other grant-funded initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Relevant experience in program coordination, outreach, education, workforce development, healthcare, or grant-funded programming. Strong communication, public speaking, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and build partnerships across a multi-county region. Ability to collect, organize, and maintain program data. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, public health, education, workforce development, business, or a related field. Professional experience in a healthcare setting or familiarity with the healthcare system. Experience in healthcare workforce development, rural health, education, or student programming. Experience mentoring or advising students interested in healthcare careers. Experience working with schools, colleges, healthcare organizations, or community partners. Experience with grant implementation, reporting, compliance, or program evaluation. Experience with databases, data management, or program tracking systems. Experience developing and delivering educational presentations or other program materials.

Grant-Funded Position:

This is a grant-funded position supported through the Rural Health Transformation (RHT) workforce development initiative and the Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the availability and continuation of grant funding, organizational needs, and satisfactory job performance.
