Our programs include English language education, GED preparation, workforce development, comprehensive health clinics, dental care, case management, and access to legal information and other community resources. The Foundation has grown significantly in reach and impact and is entering an important period of organizational development. The Position The Garces Foundation is seeking an experienced grant writer and excellent grants manager to take meaningful ownership of our institutional funding portfolio. This is not simply a proposal-writing position. The Grant Writer & Grants Manager will manage the grants process from researching opportunities and developing compelling proposals to tracking deadlines, preparing reports, maintaining funder history and grant records, and helping strengthen the systems that support our grants program. We are looking for an excellent writer who is also highly organized, resourceful, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership . This is a hands-on role in a small, growing nonprofit. Our systems are practical and evolving. We want someone who can work effectively within what exists, identify ways to make it better, and implement improvements while continuing to get the work done. The right person will enjoy both writing and building . Key Responsibilities Manage the organization's grant calendar, including proposal deadlines, reporting requirements, renewals, and follow-up dates. Research and identify foundation, corporate, government, and other institutional funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities. Draft, revise, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, and supporting materials. Prepare accurate and persuasive interim and final grant reports. Maintain organized and up-to-date records of proposals, awards, reports, funder history, communications, and next steps. Track the grants pipeline and ensure that important deadlines and opportunities do not fall through the cracks. Work closely with the Executive Director and program staff to gather budgets, program information, outcomes, data, and participant stories. Help strengthen the organization's grants management processes and institutional knowledge over time. Support stewardship of foundation and institutional funders and identify appropriate opportunities for communication and engagement. Develop a strong understanding of our work by engaging with staff and, when appropriate, observing classes, clinics, programs, and events firsthand.

Especially Valuable Experience:
We would be particularly interested in candidates who bring one or more of the following: Knowledge of Philadelphia's philanthropic community and foundation landscape. Existing familiarity with local and regional funders. Experience managing the full grant cycle, not only writing proposals. Experience with education, workforce development, healthcare, immigrant-serving organizations, or related fields. Experience developing grant budgets and financial narratives. Work Structure:
This is a part-time position of approximately 12-15 hours per week . The position is hybrid and Philadelphia-based , with a regular presence in our Philadelphia office, generally one day per week. Grant activity naturally varies around proposal and reporting deadlines, so weekly hours may fluctuate within the 12-15 hour range. The Grant Writer & Grants Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with program and administrative staff.
Compensation:
$50-$60 per hour, commensurate with experience.
