Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
: The Grants Manager is a key voice for Friends of Karen, translating our vital work into winning narratives for institutional donors. By strategically managing our grant pipeline—including prospecting, writing, and reporting for corporate and government entities—you will directly enable our ability to provide emotional, financial, and advocacy support to families in need.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Grant Strategy & Proposal Development • Execute theFull Grant Lifecycle:
Manage all activities required to develop persuasive proposals for program support, general operations, and capital projects. This includes crafting narratives, preparing budgets, and finalizing submission materials. •Strategic Planning:
Develop and maintain an annual grant calendar, outlining key timelines, submission deadlines, and projected revenue targets. •Research & Prospecting:
Proactively research and identify new funding opportunities from current donors and new prospects. Evaluate Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and present viable recommendations to the Executive Director. 2. Relationship Management & Stewardship •Funder Stewardship:
Serve as a primary point of contact for grantors, including planning and hosting site visits, attending funder meetings, and representing Friends of Karen in the philanthropic community. •Donor Appreciation:
Ensure the timely and personalized drafting of acknowledgment letters and required correspondence to all institutional funders. •Institutional Knowledge:
Build and maintain an in-depth understanding of Friends of Karen's programs and impact to ensure all proposals, reports, and presentations are compelling and mission-aligned. 3. Post-Award Management & Compliance •Monitoring & Follow-up:
Track the status of all submitted requests and coordinate necessary follow-up activities with funding partners. •Grant Reporting:
Lead the preparation and submission of all interim and final reports, ensuring 100% compliance with funder requirements and deadlines. •Agreement Processing:
Manage the internal processing of grant agreements and ensure all terms and conditions are understood and communicated to relevant departments. 4. Data Management & Administration •Information Systems:
Maintain a comprehensive electronic tracking system (CRM) and organized filing system for all grant-related documents, including cultivation history, solicitations, and reports. •Internal Support:
Complete special writing assignments and high-priority development pieces as requested by leadership. Assume other responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Fund DevelopmentQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Professional Experience & Education •Education:
Bachelor's degree required. •Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of professional grant writing experience, ideally within the human services or healthcare sectors . •Proven Success:
A demonstrated track record of securing significant grant awards from private, corporate, and government sources. Technical Knowledge & Skills •Regional Expertise:
Strong knowledge of the New York Tri-State philanthropic landscape , including regional and national foundation priorities and trends. •Narrative Mastery:
Exceptional ability to craft compelling, mission-driven narratives and translate complex program data into persuasive proposals. •Grant Accounting:
Proficiency in developing and managing project budgets and financial reports. •Research & Analysis:
Advanced skills in prospect research and the ability to analyze RFP requirements to determine organizational fit. Systems & Software •Software Proficiency:
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. •Database Management:
Experience with relational donor databases; Raiser's Edge (NXT) experience is highly preferred. •Technical Agility:
Ability to quickly master new research databases and internal project management software. Core Competencies •Precision & Quality:

Full-time Pay:
$82,000.00 - $87,000.00 per yearBenefits:
