Position Summary:

The Fund Development Manager supports HEAR Wisconsin's overall fund development efforts by managing the day-to-day development activities across its six programs and directly overseeing two employees in fund development and marketing. This position takes primary responsibility for the organization's grant management and development operations. This is a highly collaborative role that will work closely with the Director of Fund Development and other members of the leadership team, while also providing support for the comprehensive campaign and other organization-wide fundraising initiatives as needed. HEAR Wisconsin is a well-established nonprofit with a strong history of grant success and established relationships with many local and regional foundations. The Fund Development Manager will build upon an existing portfolio of funders and proven grant processes while also identifying and cultivating new funding opportunities to expand philanthropic support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Fund Development:

• Manage day-to-day fund development activities across the organization's six programs in collaboration with the Director of Fund Development.
• Work closely with program leadership to understand funding needs, priorities, and opportunities.
• Identify and research prospective foundation, corporate, government, and other funding sources.
• Support the development and implementation of annual fund development strategies.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders.
• Assist with funder communications, stewardship, impact updates, and other development materials.
• Identify opportunities to diversify the organization's funding sources and strengthen its overall funding portfolio.
• Work with the Director of Fund Development to develop fundraising priorities and strategies that align with organizational and program goals.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure fundraising materials effectively communicate the organization's mission, programs, outcomes, and impact.
• Assist with donor research, fundraising initiatives, special events, and other development activities as needed.

Grant Management:

• Manage the full grant cycle from prospect identification through proposal development, award management, reporting, and renewal.
• Research and evaluate grant opportunities for alignment with organizational and program priorities.
• Coordinate the development of letters of inquiry, proposals, applications, budgets, and supporting materials.
• Work with program staff to develop compelling narratives, goals, outcomes, and supporting documentation for grant applications.
• Coordinate with finance staff to develop and review grant budgets and ensure financial information is accurate.
• Maintain the organization's grant calendar and ensure applications, reports, and other grant deliverables are submitted accurately and on time.
• Monitor active grants for compliance with funder requirements, deliverables, reporting deadlines, and renewal opportunities.
• Coordinate interim and final grant reports with program and finance staff.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of grant applications, awards, reporting requirements, funder communications, and outcomes.
• Track grant performance and provide regular updates to the Director of Fund Development and relevant program leadership.
• Identify opportunities for grant renewals, increased funding, and multi-year support.

Leadership & Supervision:

• Supervise the Project Coordinator and Marketing Coordinator.
• Establish priorities, deadlines, and expectations for direct reports and ensure projects are completed effectively and on schedule.
• Coordinate the work of the Project Coordinator and Marketing Coordinator with fund development priorities.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to direct reports.
• Delegate projects appropriately while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
• Foster a collaborative and organized team environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in fund development, grant writing, grant management, nonprofit development, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing the full grant cycle, including researching funding opportunities, developing proposals, coordinating submissions, managing awards, completing reports, and pursuing renewals.
• Ability to supervise, delegate, provide feedback, and support the work of others.
• Strong grant writing, editing, and professional communication skills.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and tracking systems.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and follow through from initiation to completion.
• Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships with funders, donors, community partners, or other external stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

This is a full-time exempt position and reports to the Director of Fund Development.
