Vault Technician (Vault Tech) Job Summary The Vault Technician is responsible for the secure handling, accurate picking/fulfillment of orders, inventory control, and data integrity within the dispensary's vault/secure storage area. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, physical capability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment while maintaining strict compliance with all cannabis laws and internal security protocols. Primary Responsibilities
  • Accurately pick, package, and fulfill customer and wholesale orders from the vault according to order tickets or system requests.
  • Perform regular inventory counts (cycle counts, full inventories, and reconciliation) and investigate/resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Enter and maintain precise inventory data in the point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management systems; ensure real-time accuracy of stock levels, product locations, and batch/lot tracking.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries, including receiving shipments, verifying quantities and quality against manifests, and preparing products for secure transport.
  • Maintain organized, secure, and compliant vault storage (proper labeling, FIFO/FEFO rotation, temperature/humidity controls where applicable, and segregation of product types).
  • Follow all chain-of-custody, security, and regulatory procedures for cannabis products (METRC/BioTrack or equivalent track-and-trace system entry when required).
  • Assist with waste destruction, returns, and product quarantine processes as directed.
  • Support other vault and inventory team members during high-volume periods.
  • Report any security, compliance, or inventory anomalies immediately to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready workspace at all times. Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or inventory/warehouse experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to be highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and data-entry accuracy.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and high order volume.
  • Physical ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, including overhead lifting, and to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Basic computer proficiency (POS systems, inventory software, Microsoft Office or Google Suite).
  • Must be 21 years of age or older (or meet the minimum age required by local cannabis regulations).
  • Ability to pass a background check and any required drug screening consistent with company and state cannabis employment policies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliability, integrity, and a commitment to security and regulatory compliance. Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in cannabis retail, warehouse, inventory control, logistics, or a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with cannabis track-and-trace systems (METRC, BioTrack, etc.).
  • Experience with barcode scanning, RF guns, or warehouse management systems.
  • Basic to Native Spanish level Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds overhead repeatedly.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing (step stools/ladders).
  • Work is performed primarily in a secure, climate-controlled vault/storage area with limited natural light; may involve exposure to strong cannabis odors.
  • Must adhere to all company security protocols, including restricted access, camera monitoring, and dual-control procedures where required.
