Storeroom Clerk
ABOUT THE LAKE
The Lake is a new private social club opening in Fall 2026 in Chicago's River North neighborhood. Spanning 26,000 square feet, the clubhouse will feature a classic brick-and-limestone exterior paired with stylish contemporary interiors, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and inviting. Designed to foster a vibrant, welcoming community, The Lake will center around an exceptional food and beverage program and bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a love of gathering with family and friends. The club will offer three distinct restaurants, including a French-inspired brasserie, a British American restaurant, and an Italian trattoria. In addition, members will enjoy two cocktail bars, a members' wine cellar, a roof terrace, and three guest rooms, all thoughtfully designed to create a dynamic and curated experience.
ABOUT TOPOGRAPHY
Topography is a hospitality company founded by Liam Krehbiel in 2021 that develops and operates a collection of luxurious hotels and clubs, with a vision to build a world-class company known for excellence in guest experience, employee satisfaction, financial performance, and environmental stewardship. The Lake will be Topography's first property to open, with additional projects in development across Wisconsin, New England, and North Carolina.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for receiving, organizing, and distributing food, beverage, and operational supplies to support The Lake's three restaurants, two cocktail bars, and event spaces. This role requires an organized, detail-oriented, and dependable professional who thrives in a fast-paced luxury environment and takes pride in maintaining accurate, well-run storage operations that keep every outlet properly stocked. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, possesses strong organizational and inventory management skills, and is committed to supporting a collaborative team culture across culinary, bar, and purchasing operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving & Inventory Management Receive deliveries from vendors, verifying quantities, quality, and pricing against purchase orders and invoices. Inspect incoming food, beverage, and supply deliveries for freshness, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards. Accurately log and enter received goods into inventory tracking and purchasing systems. Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies promptly. Maintain proper stock rotation (FIFO) to minimize waste and ensure product freshness. Storeroom Organization & Distribution Maintain a clean, organized, and properly labeled storeroom, walk-in, and dry storage areas at all times. Distribute and requisition food, beverage, and operational supplies to restaurants, bars, and back-of-house teams according to established par levels. Monitor and communicate low stock levels and anticipated shortages to management and the purchasing team. Ensure proper storage conditions, including temperature control, for all perishable and non-perishable items. Teamwork & Collaboration Work collaboratively with culinary, bar, purchasing, and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate product flow. Communicate proactively with department heads regarding deliveries, shortages, and inventory needs. Participate in daily pre-shift meetings, training sessions, and ongoing education. Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment. Operational Excellence Follow all food safety, sanitation, and storage compliance standards. Maintain accurate records of receiving logs, invoices, and inventory counts. Assist with month-end inventory counts and cost control reporting. Report damaged, expired, or discrepant product to management promptly. Assist with special events and increased volume periods as needed. Pre-Opening & Continuous Improvement Participate in pre-opening training, vendor setup, and storeroom organization ahead of opening. Contribute feedback to improve inventory procedures and operational efficiency.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
The Lake is seeking candidates who bring genuine hospitality, professionalism, and a passion for exceptional guest service.
Professional Experience:
1+ years of storeroom, receiving, or inventory experience in upscale, fine dining, luxury hospitality, or private club environments preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic math skills and comfort with inventory management and purchasing systems. Ability to lift and carry cases, boxes, and supplies, and to remain on your feet for extended periods. Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment. Flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as deliveries require. Knowledge of food safety and proper storage standards is preferred.
