We are looking for someone who can consistently work 20 hours per week : 4 hours every Saturday , starting at 10 or 11 AM 16 additional flexible hours during the week , such as two 8-hour days or four 4-hour days Responsibilities Carefully handle and digitize valuable archival media, including photo prints, negatives, slides, albums, VHS, Hi8, MiniDV, 8mm, Super 8, 16mm, audio cassettes, and other formats. Organize, label, and audit customer media and digital files. Assist customers with drop-offs and pickups. Answer the phone on Saturdays. Perform basic office maintenance and cleaning. Requirements Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn custom project-management and workflow tools. Experience with spreadsheets is a plus. Familiarity with both Windows and macOS is preferred. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Our work involves computers, scanners, cameras, tape decks, and other legacy equipment that can occasionally malfunction. You must be able to identify problems, troubleshoot them independently, and know when to ask for help. Ability to work independently. We are looking for a fast learner and self-starter who can stay productive without constant supervision. Respect for customers' irreplaceable personal items. Many of the materials we handle are one-of-a-kind family memories. Excellent visual acuity and color perception to identify transfer defects and evaluate color, exposure, and overall image quality. Strong auditory acuity to identify problems in audio transfers, including noise, hiss, static, hum, speed/pitch issues, and other abnormalities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. You must be able to leave clear, detailed notes for supervisors and coworkers without requiring follow-up questions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Some customer orders can be large and heavy. Preferred, but Not Required Experience or knowledge in any of the following is a plus: Photography or videography, including operating cameras and editing photos or video. Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve. Basic understanding of image exposure and camera settings. Analog photography, motion-picture film, or videotape. Digital photo, video, and audio formats, including resolutions, frame rates, codecs, compression, and related concepts. We will train you on our equipment and preferred workflows. A willingness to learn and genuine interest in photography, video, technology, or legacy media are more important than having experience with every format we handle.
Pay:
