Job Description

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers. The base pay for this position is $16.40. 2nd and 3rd shift do receive a shift premium of $1.00. We offer a $50 attendance bonus for every two weeks in which you miss no time, not including our shutdown periods. This bonus would provide an extra $0.62 to your hourly rate.
SCOPE:
Sort through all returned yarn from Weave Room and organize into buggies to be put back into yarn bins.
PPE:
Ear protection required in Weave Room at all times and safety belt/harness required when using motorized equipment
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Buggy, yarn, marker, buggy tags
REQUIRED PRODUCTION OUTPUT PER SHIFT
Stay current with all returned yarn. 450-500 scans into SAP per 8 hr. shift. 1.
Safety:
Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. 2.
Attendance:
Maintain personal attendance practices to meet established company goals. 3.
Work Ethics:
Maintain personal work habits, which meet the demands and stresses of the job. Meet deadlines and production quotas. Get along with co-workers. Follow instructions. Including shift start/stop times and breaks schedules. Work scheduled overtime.
Duties:
Perform the following duties according to
IS0 9001
work instructions and standards: Sort through all returned yarn buggies and take out bags, small or empty cones. Scan yarn labels for location and place yarn into buggies to be put up into bins. White yarn should be placed into bags before being placed in a buggy.
Label buggies as to location:
Row number and High/Low area.
OTHER JOB ELEMENTS
Keep the computer work area clean and floor swept. Perform other duties when needed or assigned by Supervisor. This includes all 5S assignments
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND SKILLS NEEDED TO PERFORM JOB
Basic reading, writing, and math skills Must be able to discern colors and pass a color blindness test. Must be willing and able to work six to seven days per week when scheduled. Must have a license to operate PIT equipment. (i.e.cherry picker, etc.) •Training done in-house
