Inventory Control Clerk - Shop Environment (Expect to get dirty) Straube's Aircraft Services, Inc.

$20.00 per hour
Reports To:
Vice President of Production About the Position Straube's Aircraft Services is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Inventory Control Clerk to support our aircraft refinishing operations. This position is responsible for receiving, organizing, tracking, issuing, and reconciling paint, coatings, tools, parts, personal protective equipment, and other production supplies. The ideal candidate is highly organized, accurate, comfortable working with inventory systems, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and audit-ready work environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Receive deliveries and verify packing slips, purchase orders, quantities, part numbers, lot or batch numbers, and material condition.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage, correct labeling, expiration dates, and required documentation.
  • Accurately enter inventory receipts, issues, returns, transfers, adjustments, and job allocations.
  • Label, stage, and store materials according to applicable safety, security, temperature, and environmental requirements.
  • Issue paint, primers, solvents, abrasives, masking supplies, PPE, hardware, and other materials to authorized employees.
  • Charge materials to the correct aircraft, work order, department, or cost code.
  • Maintain lot and batch traceability and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor stock levels, reorder points, expiration dates, shelf life, and material lead times.
  • Rotate inventory using FIFO or FEFO practices, as appropriate.
  • Identify and quarantine expired, damaged, suspect, or nonconforming materials.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventories.
  • Investigate inventory variances and provide documentation for necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain clean and organized inventory rooms, storage cabinets, refrigerators, receiving areas, and point-of-use locations using 5S principles.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, Quality, Finance, and Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Assist with Safety Data Sheets, chemical labeling, spill prevention, compliant storage, and waste-management practices.
  • Prepare materials for transfer or shipment and verify packaging and documentation.
  • Support job closeout by reconciling materials issued, returned, consumed, or unused.
  • Protect company and customer property and report loss, damage, or suspected misuse. Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least one year of inventory, stockroom, warehouse, receiving, purchasing support, or related administrative experience is preferred.
  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Ability to learn inventory, accounting, barcode, and enterprise systems.
  • Ability to read purchase orders, packing documents, work orders, labels, quantities, units of measure, and basic technical information.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to maintain accurate records with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license may be required depending on assigned duties.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug testing. Straube's Aircraft Services operates under an FAA/DOT-regulated drug program. Employees in applicable positions are subject to random drug and alcohol testing. What We're Looking For

  • Regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and use hands for data entry, labeling, counting, and material handling.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, with assistance or equipment when appropriate.
  • Work in office, warehouse, hangar, and production-support environments.
  • Work around noise, dust, odors, temperature changes, moving equipment, and chemical products.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety and environmental procedures.
  • Possess sufficient vision and color-recognition ability, with correction if needed, to read labels and distinguish inventory items.
