At Pick Your Part, our Outside Car Checker / Inventory Clerk plays a critical role in the vehicle intake process by ensuring every purchased vehicle is accurately documented, inventoried, and entered into our inventory system. This position combines hands-on vehicle inspections with administrative and procurement support to maintain accurate records, ensure compliance, and support efficient yard operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working both outdoors and in an office environment, and enjoys a fast-paced environment. Essential Job Duties Vehicle Intake & Inventory Receive purchased vehicles after customers complete office paperwork. Verify VINs and accurately record vehicle information in company systems. Take clear, detailed photographs of the vehicle's exterior, interior, and key components. Inspect and inventory parts and components associated with each vehicle. Identify and document high-value cores, hybrid batteries, catalytic converters, recalled airbags, and other special components. Inspect vehicles for dents, scratches, missing parts, and other damage; accurately document findings. Apply inventory barcodes, stock numbers, and tracking labels. Ensure all required documentation, photos, and keys are transferred to the appropriate departments. Administrative & Inventory Support Enter and maintain vehicle and inventory information within company databases. Maintain accurate inventory records and supporting documentation. Create and update spreadsheets and reports to support operational needs. Perform data entry, filing, scanning, copying, and document management. Assist with inventory audits and reconciliation activities. Maintain organized electronic and physical records. Respond to internal requests for inventory and vehicle information. Procurement & Operational Support Assist with purchasing office supplies, maintenance items, equipment, and other operational materials. Process purchase requests and invoices while maintaining accurate procurement records. Coordinate with vendors regarding orders, deliveries, and inventory availability. Track open purchase orders and assist with order follow-up. Support inventory control initiatives and maintain procurement documentation. Assist with special projects and operational reporting as assigned. General Responsibilities Communicate effectively with office staff, buyers, production, and management. Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:
Basic Qualifications Education & Experience (Level of education AND years of experience are required): High School Diploma or GED required. 1-3 years of experience in inventory control, automotive, administrative support, procurement, or a related field preferred. Automotive or salvage industry experience is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately inspect vehicles and maintain records. Ability to identify vehicle damage, missing parts, and high-value automotive components. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, handheld scanners, and inventory software. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy. Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and inventory counts. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment Work is performed both outdoors in the vehicle yard and indoors in an office environment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing in and around vehicles. Regular exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of computers, tablets, handheld scanners, and cameras. Occasional travel may be required based on business needs. #PYP Benefits:
