Job Description

Position Summary The Tool Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate control, organization, and accountability of all RBD Construction tools and equipment assigned to the Weyerhaeuser project in Monticello, Arkansas. This position will manage the daily issuance and return of tools, maintain accurate inventory records, monitor tool condition, coordinate repairs and replacements, and ensure tools are properly stored and available when crews need them. The successful candidate must be highly organized, dependable, comfortable working in an active construction environment, and willing to hold employees accountable for company property. Key ResponsibilitiesTool Inventory and Accountability Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of all tools and equipment assigned to the project. Check tools and equipment in and out to individual employees and crews. Document the employee, tool identification number, date issued, condition, and date returned. Use ToolHound or another company-approved inventory system to record tool assignments, transfers, repairs, and returns. Conduct routine physical inventory counts and reconcile physical inventory against system records. Immediately investigate and report missing, lost, stolen, or unreturned tools. Maintain clear accountability for tools transferred between crews, work areas, projects, or company locations. Ensure employees do not remove tools or equipment from the project without proper authorization and documentation. Tool Storage and Organization Maintain a clean, secure, and professionally organized tool room, tool trailer, or designated storage area. Clearly label storage locations so tools can be located and returned efficiently. Separate working tools from damaged tools, tools awaiting repair, and tools scheduled for disposal. Ensure tools and equipment are protected from weather, theft, misuse, and unnecessary damage. Maintain control of keys, locks, chargers, batteries, cords, accessories, and related components. Assist with project mobilization and demobilization by inventorying, packing, transferring, and documenting tools and equipment. Inspections, Maintenance, and Repairs Inspect tools when they are issued and returned. Identify damaged, unsafe, incomplete, or improperly functioning tools. Remove unsafe or damaged tools from service immediately. Clearly tag tools that are out of service and prevent them from being reissued. Coordinate repairs, warranty claims, servicing, and replacement requests with the appropriate RBD personnel or approved vendors. Maintain records of repairs, service dates, inspection dates, costs, and tool condition. Monitor battery-powered tools, chargers, extension cords, power cords, and safety guards for proper condition. Assist leadership with identifying tools that are repeatedly damaged, underused, or no longer cost-effective to repair. Receiving and Distribution Receive incoming tools, equipment, materials, and related deliveries. Verify deliveries against packing slips, purchase orders, or transfer documentation. Inspect shipments for missing items, damage, or incorrect quantities. Notify the appropriate supervisor of delivery discrepancies. Apply company identification numbers, labels, or tracking tags before tools are placed into service. Distribute tools and equipment to authorized employees and crews. Maintain documentation for tools received from other RBD projects or returned to the corporate office, fabrication shop, vendor, or rental company. Consumable Inventory Monitor approved consumable supplies maintained in the tool storage area. Track inventory levels and notify the appropriate supervisor before critical supplies are depleted. Help prevent over-ordering, waste, unauthorized use, and unnecessary duplication. Maintain an organized system for commonly used items such as blades, bits, batteries, cords, grinding wheels, and related accessories. Follow RBD purchasing and approval procedures; this position does not independently authorize purchases unless specifically designated by management. Reporting and Communication Provide regular inventory reports to the Project Superintendent and Field Operations leadership. Report missing tools, excessive damage, repeated misuse, and inventory discrepancies promptly. Communicate professionally with field employees, supervisors, project management, vendors, and office personnel. Maintain accurate supporting documentation for purchases, transfers, repairs, rentals, and disposals. Assist management with identifying trends involving tool loss, damage, repair expenses, and employee accountability. Participate in project meetings when tool availability, equipment needs, or inventory concerns must be addressed. Safety and Compliance Follow all RBD Construction, Weyerhaeuser, project-specific, and OSHA safety requirements. Ensure tools are not issued when they are known to be unsafe, damaged, or missing required guards or safety components. Maintain safe access through tool storage areas and keep aisles and exits clear. Store batteries, fuels, chemicals, and other regulated materials according to company and site requirements. Wear all required personal protective equipment while working in the field or active construction areas. Immediately report unsafe conditions, theft, suspected misuse, or intentional damage. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous experience with inventory control, tool management, warehouse operations, construction materials, or equipment tracking preferred. General knowledge of construction tools, power tools, hand tools, batteries, chargers, cords, and related accessories. Basic computer, tablet, and data-entry skills. Ability to learn and consistently use ToolHound or another company inventory-management system. Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
