This role bridges system-level inventory accuracy into our WMS with physical floor execution—ensuring inventory accuracy, optimizing slotting across static racks and pick bins, preventing stale stock drag, and owning procurement for core operational consumables (boxes, mailers, thermal labels, tape, etc).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cycle Counting & WMS Accuracy Schedule and execute daily rolling cycle counts across active picking locations, shelf bins, and overstock bulk racks using ShipHero WMS. Conduct root-cause investigations on inventory discrepancies (mis-picks, missing stock, system vs. physical delta) before approving line-item inventory adjustments.
Goal:
Maintain 99% location inventory accuracy. 2. Dynamic Slotting & Product Velocity Optimization Analyze SKU velocity (A/B/C classification) to continuously reorganize floor placement—moving high-velocity SKUs closest to primary pack stations to minimize picker travel time. Map and transition incoming inventory into optimal bin, shelf, and pallet rack locations to maximize floor space efficiency. Re-slot seasonal items, promo drops, and new client intakes prior to launch.
Goal:
Reduce average floor pick distance and travel time by 15% through proactive velocity-based re-slotting. 3. Stale, Dead, & Aging Inventory Management Monitor inventory aging reports in the WMS to identify non-moving, slow-turning, or obsolete client stock (stale inventory > 90-120 days). Collaborate with the Client Success Manager (CSM) to flag aged SKUs for client removal, return-to-vendor (RTV), or clearance kitting to free up high-value rack and shelf space.
Goal:
Reclaim 10%+ of dead storage rack space quarterly. 4. Consumables Procurement, Cost-Reduction, & Stocking Act as primary owner for all operational packaging inventory. Perform weekly physical safety-stock audits to ensure pack stations never face a stockout.
Vendor Sourcing & Cost Optimization:
Re-bid and negotiate pricing with direct packaging manufacturers to lower cost-per-unit on boxes and label rolls as volume scales.
Goal:
Eliminate 100% of consumable-related packing line downtime; achieve a 5%-10% year-over-year cost reduction on corrugated and label procurement.
Dedicated inventory control, cycle counting, or slotting experience in a high-volume 3PL or e-commerce fulfillment environment a plus.
Software:
Proficient with Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookup formulas for aging reports and demonstrated ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and master new cloud-based software and tools.
Equipment Certification:
Certified (or willing to certify) on stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers.
Physical Ability:
Able to stand/walk for 8-10 hours per day and lift up to 50 lbs.
