Established in 2002, Michaan's Auctions holds up to thirty sales each year that attract a broad base of buyers and consignors the world over. With one of the largest facilities in Northern California, Michaan's offers buyers the ability to preview and bid on many unique and desirable pieces.

Position Overview:

The Inventory Controller is responsible for assisting the Operations manager with inventorying and processing for auction all incoming art, antiques, and collectibles as well as showroom setup, and daily administrative tasks to ensure the department is running smoothly. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions

• ) : Responsible for receiving incoming consignments.

Understand, maintain and utilize the internal inventory system in order to ensure that all property is accounted for at all times. Physically unpack property, tag property utilizing the internal inventory system, safely move property and properly store property. Research and write catalog descriptions for various types of property including but not limited to: fine art, furniture, collectibles, household items, etc. Generate auction estimates for various types of property including but not limited to: fine art, furniture, collectibles, household items, etc. When a laptop is unavailable, hand write inventory listings so that they can be entered into the internal inventory system or directly input inventory listing data into the system. Responsible for showroom preview set-up and breakdown. This includes safely moving the property to and from the cases and setting up the displays for each upcoming auction. Attend and work during the Annex Auctions, held every month.

Preview staff assistance:

assist potential buyers during auction previews, as needed. Ensure the safe delivery of property to both buyers and consignors. Clean and maintain the Annex Showroom floor before each Annex Auction preview. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:

The Receiver reports directly to the Operations Manager and is expected to perform his/her job with little supervision.

Qualifications & Skills:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's Degree in Art History or similar field of study Fluent in English Strong work ethic, flexibility and dedication Experience working with Fine Art and Antiques Outstanding organizational, communication and time-management skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle high-value property responsibly and respectfully Self-motivator who can work independently and as part of a team to solve problems Ability to lift and move heavy property (at least 30 lbs) Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, reaching and grasping required of objects over 30 pounds. Standing and walking for 7+ hours each day. Walking on uneven surfaces, crouching, kneeling or crawling, grasping, squeezing, and fine manipulation. Availability to work some nights, weekends, and holidays

PREFERRED

• Degree with a focus in Art History, or strong interest in Art History
• Experience with Macs, email, and barcoding systems
• Customer service experience
• Knowledge of various forms of antiques, fine art, collectibles, etc.
