Job Description
Inventory Specialist - Plant Nursery Belmont Nursery is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our plant inventory from production through customer delivery. This position is responsible for maintaining inventory records, monitoring plant quality and grading, coordinating order flow, and communicating between production, sales, shipping, and retail to ensure customers receive the highest quality plants on time. The ideal candidate combines strong computer skills with horticultural knowledge and thrives in a fast-paced nursery environment. This individual must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and build strong working relationships across departments while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Requirements Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the ability to learn nursery inventory software. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work early morning hours, including shifts beginning as early as 6:00 a.m. Basic knowledge of ornamental plants, plant identification, grading standards, and horticultural practices. Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing as part of a team. Ability to work outdoors, walk the nursery daily and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Essential Responsibilities Maintain accurate inventory counts, plant descriptions, locations, and ready dates. Evaluate plant quality, grade, size, and market readiness to ensure inventory reflects status. Process inventory transfers, adjustments, dumps, and production updates in the inventory system. Participate in continuing education and professional development to strengthen horticultural and inventory management knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a wholesale nursery, greenhouse, or agricultural production environment. Experience using inventory management or ERP software. Familiarity with production planning, forecasting, and inventory control principles. Strong understanding of plant grading, quality standards, and nursery operations.
