Full-Time, Hourly Position Overview The Yard Services & Inventory Specialist supports daily lumber yard operations with a primary focus on yard services, receiving, and inventory accuracy. This role is hands-on and yard-first, requiring regular physical work outdoors while also performing inventory-related transactions from an office located in the yard. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient yard operations, accurate inventory records, and timely customer service. Areas of Responsibility Yard Operations Assist with unloading vendor deliveries and accurately counting materials as received Build, stage, and verify delivery loads Locate, pull, and load materials for customer pickups Provide prompt, courteous service to customers in the yard Operate forklifts and other yard equipment safely (training/certification provided if needed) Maintain clean, organized, and safe yard conditions, including clear aisles and proper material storage Support yard crew activities to ensure smooth daily operations Follow safety procedures Inventory Receiving Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies Process inventory-related transactions accurately and in a timely manner Perform routine cycle counts Investigate inventory discrepancies and communicate findings to management Communicate low-stock, or quality issues Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with yard, sales, logistics, and management teams Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency, and cost savings Participate in training opportunities related to products, equipment, and systems General Responsibilities Demonstrate Preston Feather core values in all interactions Maintain professional conduct and appearance Perform other related duties or projects as assigned by management Required Skills and Abilities Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions Strong attention to detail when counting materials and processing inventory Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory software (Spruce) Strong customer service and communication skills Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented mindset Commitment to safe work practices High School Diploma Valid Drivers License, Chauffer's License a plus. Physical Requirements Standing, walking, climbing, stooping, and kneeling frequently Lifting, pushing, and pulling materials up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively in an active yard environment Ability to use computer systems for inventory and documentation tasks Working Conditions Office located within the lumber yard Combination of indoor and outdoor work Regular exposure to weather conditions and active equipment operations All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check (including MVR) and drug screen. Monday - Friday 7 am to 4 pm. 40 hours a week
