Job Description
Inventory Controller Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Inventory Controller to oversee the ordering and scheduling of beer products for our distribution centers. This is a key position within our operation. The Inventory Controller is responsible for making sure we have the right products, in the right quantities, at the right locations, and at the right time to meet customer demand. This includes monitoring inventory, placing orders with breweries and suppliers, scheduling inbound deliveries, and identifying potential inventory issues before they impact our customers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced distribution environment. Responsibilities Order beer products for our distribution centers based on inventory levels, sales demand, forecasts, and established inventory targets. Monitor inventory levels and product movement to maintain appropriate stock levels and minimize out-of-stocks. Coordinate and schedule inbound deliveries with breweries, suppliers, carriers, and warehouse teams. Monitor open orders and follow up on late, short, delayed, or incomplete shipments. Review sales and inventory trends to anticipate future product needs. Identify potential product shortages and take proactive steps to maintain availability. Monitor slow-moving and excess inventory and help identify opportunities to improve inventory levels. Communicate regularly with suppliers and internal teams regarding orders, product availability, and delivery schedules. Coordinate inventory needs for seasonal products, promotions, new product launches, and changes in demand. Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and delivery information within company systems. Research and help resolve inventory discrepancies and receiving issues. Build strong working relationships with suppliers, warehouse personnel, sales teams, and other departments. Qualifications Previous experience in inventory control, purchasing, replenishment, supply chain, distribution, or a related role preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple orders, suppliers, deadlines, and delivery schedules at the same time. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to use inventory and sales data to make sound purchasing decisions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with spreadsheets and comfort learning inventory management and business software. Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and respond quickly when inventory or delivery issues arise. Experience in beverage distribution, consumer packaged goods, or a similar high-volume distribution environment is a plus. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities and stays ahead of potential problems. A successful Inventory Controller doesn't simply place orders—they understand inventory movement, anticipate what will be needed, communicate issues early, and work with suppliers and internal teams to keep products flowing efficiently. If you enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, coordinating multiple moving pieces, and playing an important role in a fast-paced distribution operation, we'd like to hear from you.
