Job Description

Are you looking for fulfilling, part-time work with City government? Our Raleigh Water department is hiring two Inventory Assistant positions to supporting managing purchase order requisitions, material stock, and receipting of inventory and services at our D.E. Benson Water Treatment Plant. This is a part-time, temporary role. Working hours will be Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; 2 to 3 Days per week, with a maximum of 1000 hours worked annually. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Processes and submits requisitions for the creation of purchase orders. Reviews vendor quotes and service availability, selects vendors within established guidelines, and determines supply levels, purchase timing, and required supply quantities Responds to and prepares material stock requests. Confirms orders and provides and oversees stock/material picking, issuance and/or delivery Provides receipting of inventory, materials and/or services. Verifies quantity and accuracy based on orders and/or completion of services, ensures inventory control system information and records are maintained and that inventory is stored in or distributed to proper and safe locations Monitors, audits and maintains inventory counts, catalog and/or related storage records. Identifies and reconciles discrepancies and prepares and maintains related reports and statistics Drive to various Raleigh Water and City locations
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and 1 year of relevant experience OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Forklift certification First aid certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
FIS and Inventory, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software Standard practices, techniques, and methods for organizing, prioritizing, assigning and monitoring work Standard practices of inventory maintenance and control Basic mathematical concepts and computations Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices Uses and properties of supplies and equipment, including specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment Modern office technology Providing attention to detail in assignments Organizing and maintaining materials, supplies, records, and files Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards Providing customer service Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction City of Raleigh is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.
