This position assists the Procurement Sergeant in entering all purchased items into a database and is responsible for knowing the status of the item (i.e. issued, stored, sent out for maintenance, etc.) using a computerized inventory system. Distinguishing Features An employee in this class is responsible for all activities associated with the inventory and issuing of uniforms, equipment, supplies and firearms as well as warehouse receiving and distribution functions. Advanced organization skills and attention to detail is required as well as having excellent communication and customer service skills. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated by the overall success of the operation. Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from high school or GED and one year experience in data entry. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. Must be able to successfully complete extensive background check, including polygraph exam and drug screen and also possess a valid Driver's License. The preferred candidate would have warehouse/inventory experience and knowledge of law enforcement uniforms and uniform equipment. This position requires intermediate to advanced computer skills, a general knowledge of Microsoft Office, and excellent customer service skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ability to maintain and enter data into a computerized inventory system in order to keep an accurate inventory of all items. Considerable knowledge of personal computers and applicable software. Prepare and initiate purchase order requests as needed to maintain an adequate supply of all necessary items. Communicates frequently with employees, administration and vendors via phone, email and in-person. Assists with receiving and distribution functions involving a wide range of supplies and equipment.
