In this vital role, you will oversee the accurate receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming inventory, ensuring seamless integration into our warehouse operations. Your expertise will help maintain optimal stock levels, support efficient order fulfillment, and uphold compliance with shipping and international trade regulations. - Receive inbound deliveries safely, confirm the carrier and shipment identity, and direct vehicles to the appropriate dock or unloading area.
- Compare delivered material to purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and other receiving documents for correct part number, description, quantity, revision, and destination.
- Inspect containers and material for visible damage, shortages, overages, contamination, or other discrepancies before acceptance and document findings promptly.
- Photograph and segregate damaged, unidentified, or nonconforming material and notify the supervisor, purchasing, quality, or other responsible department.
- Enter receipts, quantities, locations, lot or serial information, and discrepancy notes accurately in the ERP/MRP or inventory system.
- Print and apply identification, status, routing, lot, or traceability labels as required; preserve all certifications and receiving documents.
- Move accepted material to inspection, production, inventory, or the designated department without avoidable delay.
- Coordinate with purchasing, quality, production, customer service, and shipping to resolve incomplete paperwork or mismatched material.
- Maintain organized staging areas and prevent received, rejected, customer-owned, and unidentified material from becoming mixed.
- Support inventory cycle counts, location audits, material searches, and correction of documented inventory discrepancies.
- Use forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, cranes, scales, and other material-handling equipment safely and only when trained and authorized.
- Communicate urgent receipts, critical shortages, carrier issues, and delays immediately and provide reliable status updates.
- Assist with packing, loading, shipping documentation, and department coverage when receiving workload permits.
Experience Proven experience in warehouse operations or inventory management within a distribution or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems like AS400 or MRP software is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures, including international trade regulations and trade compliance standards. Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently. Basic math skills for inventory counting, data entry accuracy, and order processing tasks. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting. Prior customer service experience is a plus for effective communication with internal teams and external vendors.
