Potential to grow into a full-time role in 2027 We are a light manufacturing and equipment rental company in North Hollywood seeking an experienced Part-Time Senior Bookkeeper / Inventory Accounting Specialist to take ownership of our inventory accounting and related bookkeeping processes. This is not a basic bookkeeping or data-entry role. We are looking for someone who understands how inventory moves through a business and can connect the operational process to the accounting. Our company manages several hundred equipment units that may be purchased, assembled, rented, returned, repaired, redeployed, sold, or retired. We need someone who can create structure around this process and ensure that our physical inventory and accounting records remain accurate. This position is currently part-time and requires 3 days per week onsite in Burbank. For the right person, the role has the potential to expand into a full-time position in 2027 as the company grows. Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain accurate inventory records for several hundred equipment units
  • Perform and reconcile physical inventory counts
  • Track inventory by unit, status, location, customer, and cost
  • Understand and properly account for inventory, COGS, rental equipment, equipment sales, and related costs
  • Establish and maintain accurate equipment and product costs
  • Track materials, components, freight, labor, and other applicable costs
  • Reconcile inventory and related balance sheet accounts
  • Track rental equipment deployed with customers and equipment returned to the warehouse
  • Work closely with operations to ensure inventory movements are properly documented
  • Manage purchasing documentation, receiving records, vendor invoices, and related accounting
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general bookkeeping as needed
  • Analyze COGS, gross margin, inventory discrepancies, and rental profitability
  • Maintain clean supporting documentation and accounting records
  • Prepare quarterly P&L reports and submit required tax forms and filings SOP & Process Ownership A key part of this position will be creating and documenting clear processes around the full inventory lifecycle: Purchase → Receive → Record → Assemble/Manufacture → Inventory → Rent or Sell → Return → Repair → Redeploy or Dispose → Reconcile The person in this role should help management confidently answer: • What inventory do we own?
  • Where is each unit located?
  • What did each unit cost?
  • Is it available, rented, under repair, sold, or retired?
  • Which customer currently has the equipment?
  • What rental revenue has each unit generated?
  • What is the COGS and gross margin when equipment is sold?
  • Does the physical inventory agree with the accounting records? Qualifications
  • 5+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or financial operations experience
  • Strong hands-on inventory accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of COGS, gross margin, and inventory costing
  • Experience with manufacturing, equipment rental, distribution, or another inventory-intensive business strongly preferred
  • Experience performing and reconciling physical inventory counts
  • Understanding of rental equipment versus inventory held for sale
  • Experience with purchasing, receiving, vendor bills, inventory adjustments, and sales transactions
  • QuickBooks experience online/desktop required
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Light HR support, including onboarding, employee records, and basic HR administration.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working directly with warehouse, operations, purchasing, and management
  • Ability to identify process gaps and create practical SOPs and controls Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who takes ownership rather than simply processing transactions.

The right person will be comfortable spending time onsite, understanding how inventory physically moves through the company, identifying weaknesses in the current process, and developing a reliable system that keeps operational and accounting records aligned. Experience with serialized inventory, rental units, light manufacturing, or equipment tracking is highly desirable. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional seeking a part-time onsite role today with the potential to grow into a full-time position in 2027.
