The Role We are seeking a hands-on Purchasing & Inventory Specialist to manage purchasing, expedite materials, onboard new vendors, and maintain productive supplier relationships. This person will work closely with engineering, project management, production, and receiving to ensure the right materials are available when needed.

The role also supports our overall inventory-management program—helping maintain accurate records, establish appropriate stocking levels, and prevent both material shortages and unnecessary inventory buildup.

The right candidate is organized, persistent, and proactive. You should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, holding vendors accountable, and following an issue through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities Purchasing:

Obtain and evaluate quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and issue accurate purchase orders for electrical components, copper, fabricated parts, hardware, outside services, and shop supplies. Verify part numbers, quantities, revisions, and delivery requirements against approved requests and bills of material.

Expediting:

Obtain order acknowledgments, confirm supplier commitments, and actively track open orders through delivery. Identify potential delays, expedite critical materials, and communicate delivery risks and recovery options before they affect production.

New vendor onboarding:

Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, gather required documentation, establish commercial terms, and coordinate vendor setup with accounting and other internal teams. Maintain accurate vendor records in the ERP system.

Vendor management:

Develop and maintain supplier relationships, monitor pricing and delivery performance, and resolve quality or service issues. Hold vendors accountable to commitments and develop alternative sources where needed to improve supply reliability.

Receiving coordination:

Work closely with the receiving team to communicate expected deliveries and material priorities. Resolve shortages, overages, damaged materials, incorrect shipments, and purchase-order discrepancies. Coordinate returns, replacements, and credits with vendors and accounting.

Inventory management and program improvement:

Help maintain healthy inventory levels based on project requirements, production schedules, supplier lead times, and usage. Support stocking strategies, minimum and maximum levels, and reorder points. Coordinate inventory reviews and cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and address excess or obsolete material. Help strengthen the processes connecting purchasing, receiving, inventory, and production. Maintain current purchasing, vendor, and delivery information in Odoo , providing clear visibility into material availability, outstanding orders, and supply risks. Qualifications Purchasing, procurement, or inventory-management experience in manufacturing, electrical distribution, or a related industrial environment. Experience managing supplier relationships, expediting orders, and coordinating with receiving or warehouse teams. Ability to work accurately with bills of material, manufacturer part numbers, quotations, and multiple project-specific material requirements. Strong organization, communication, negotiation, and follow-through, along with experience using an ERP or purchasing system and Microsoft Excel. Odoo experience is a plus.

Preferred:
