Position Summary:

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels of prepared medications and pharmacy supplies to support dispensing operations. This role ensures inventory is tracked, stored, and replenished appropriately to maintain availability, minimize waste, and support efficient workflow execution. The Inventory Specialist maintains inventory records, monitors stock levels and expiration dates, and coordinates with pharmacy staff to ensure products are available to meet operational needs.

Essential Functions:

• Maintains inventory levels of prepared medications and supplies to support dispensing and operational needs.
• Tracks quantities, lot numbers, expiration dates, and storage conditions to ensure accurate inventory records and compliance with requirements.
• Updates inventory systems to reflect product movement, including receipt, dispensing, transfers, and stock adjustments.
• Monitors stock levels and initiates replenishment activities, including preparing and submitting purchase orders as needed.
• Performs routine cycle counts and supports inventory audits to maintain accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Monitors expiration dates and coordinates with pharmacy staff to reduce waste and manage expiring inventory.
• Organizes and maintains inventory storage areas to support efficient access and workflow.
• Communicates inventory shortages, backorders, and supply issues to pharmacy staff and leadership.
• Collaborates with pharmacists and technicians to ensure inventory availability aligns with dispensing needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in inventory management, pharmacy operations, healthcare logistics, or supply chain preferred.
• Experience working in a pharmacy, healthcare, or regulated environment preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in inventory tracking and documentation.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and related databases.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
