Job Description

Job Overview Supply Technician performs limited aspects of technical supply management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, property utilization) related to depot, local, or other supply activities. Work usually is segregated by commodity area or function, and controlled in terms of difficulty, complexity, or responsibility. Assignments usually relate to stable or standardized segments of technical supply management operations; or to functions or subjects that are narrow in scope or limited in difficulty. The work generally involves individual problems or requirements, together with applied standardized guidelines. Assignments require a good working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines. Employee must understand the needs of the organization serviced and be able to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data, to establish the facts, and to take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines. Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling very heavy parts and loads. Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment. Maintains tools and equipment and cleans work areas to maintain a safe work environment. Be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions when necessary. Ensure that all tasks are performed safely. Wearing safety items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) e.g., gloves, safety shoes, protective eyewear, hearing protection, and other items such as aprons or outerwear as appropriate. Employee is required to maintain a valid state-issued Driver's license and applicable Government/Army license. Perform other duties as required to support the mission and contractual requirements. Applicant must have knowledge of shop and bench stock operations. Perform quarterly inventories of repair parts. Duties The Supply Technician will confer with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products. Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities. Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality. Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service. Green Task Statement . Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders. Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, or to discuss production forecasts or changes. Implement new or improved supply chain processes. Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies. Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving. Education and Certification Requirements GED/HS Diploma with 4 years related work experience. This is a civilian position and does not require enlistment.
