JOB SUMMARY

For complete Job duties and to apply to this job, ask an EDD Representative (job order number indicated above). Worker(s) will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of turf grass. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period will be related to general farm work, irrigation, and crop production. Worker(s) will apply specific horticultural techniques as instructed by the employer when carrying out the following responsibilities: Prepare fields/plant/spray/weed and irrigate plants/shrubs/trees. Sow seed and plant cuttings. Recognize disease and/or nutrient/moisture requirements by plant texture/development or soil condition. Observe general condition of plants and apply the appropriate care. Maintain and repair structures/grounds. Repair pallets. Sow grass seed and plant plugs of sod and cut/roll/stack/load and unload sod. Mow/tend sod/turf grass. Harvest turf grass sod. Trap/poison pests. Make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on equipment (check oil/water and lubricate). Irrigation duties will include the following: Hand lines: Connect pipes; check alignment of pipe and adjust for proper water distribution. Attach lines to water supply; turn on pump. Turn valves to start flow of water. Disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields at specified intervals. Move pipes through freshly irrigated crops and/or plowed fields where mud may be deep at times. Lift and carry pipe sections weighing approximately 40 pounds on a sustained basis.

Wheel lines:

Start gasoline engines and operate controls to move lines across fields at specified intervals.

Other Irrigation Duties:

Remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and lay out/place in predetermined patterns in fields. Lubricate, adjust, repair and replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drive chains using hand tools. Observe revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure proper operation and uniform distribution of water. Disassemble, service and store pipes/mainlines/wheel lines after irrigation season. To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, the worker must, after a 10-day conditioning period, move an average of at least 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 44 40-foot sections of 4-inch pipe per hour under normal working conditions Weeding occurs intermittent, usually occurs in the winter after new seeded grass.

• The employees use a short-handed hoe Less than 4ft.
• The workers will start in the morning when spraying can occur.
• The position of the worker will be in is standing and bending.
• The weeding occurs intermittent and less than 10% of the time American Sod, Inc.

will abide by the additional rest periods when required. American Sod will provide gloves, knee pads and training in prevention of work-related injuries, at no cost to workers. May work on holidays and weekends. Most days start at sunrise and will work until job is complete. Sometimes overtime is requires and working outside the heat of summer. Prepare fields/plant/spray/weed and irrigate plants/shrubs/trees.

H-2A General Assurances (guarantees to workers) Housing The employer must provide free housing to all workers who are not reasonably able to return to their residences the same day. Meals The employer must provide either three meals a day to each worker or furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities. If meals are provided, the employer may charge each worker a certain amount per day for the three meals. Transportation 1. After a worker has completed 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer must reimburse the worker for the cost of transportation and subsistence form the place of recruitment to the place or work, if such costs were borne by the worker. 7/186 2. The employer must provide free transportation between the employer's housing and the work site for any worker who is provided housing. 3. Upon completion of the work contract, the employer must pay the worker's subsistence and return transportation to the place of recruitment. 4. Special conditions apply when the worker will not be returning to the place of recruitment because of another job. Workers Compensation Insurance The employer must provide workers' compensation insurance where it is required by law. Tools and Supplies The employer must furnish at no cost to the worker all tools and supplies necessary to carry out the work unless it is common practice in the area and occupation for the worker to provide certain items. Three-fourth Guarantee The employer must guarantee to offer each worker employment for at least three-fourths of the workdays in the work contract period and any extensions. If the employer affords less employment, then the employer must pay the amount which the worker would have earned had the worker been employed the guaranteed number of days. Other Conditions 1. The employer must provide the worker a complete statement of hours worked and related earnings on each payday. 2. The employer must pay the worker at least twice monthly or more frequently if it is in the prevailing practice to do so. 3. The employer must provide a copy of a work contract or the job order to each worker. 4. The employer shall comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment

•  related laws and regulations, including employment-related health and safety laws.

5. No U.S. worker will be rejected for or terminated from employment for other than a lawful-job-related reason and notification of all rejections or terminations shall be made to EDD. 6. Hacer ajustes mecánicos menores y reparaciones en el equipo (verificar aceite/agua y lubricar). Garantías para el Trabajador Alojamiento El empleador debe proporcionar alojamiento gratuito a todos los trabajadores que no puedan regresar razonablemente a sus residencias el mismo día. Comidas El empleador debe proporcionar tres comidas al día a cada trabajador o proporcionar cocina y utensilios gratuitos y convenientes.
