This hands-on role involves preparing and blasting surfaces, maintaining equipment, tracking materials, and supporting shop operations. The successful candidate must show up on time, take ownership of their work, and perform consistently in demanding outdoor conditions. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Perform sandblasting operations on various materials and surfaces according to job requirements and quality standards. Prepare surfaces prior to blasting (masking, cleaning, positioning) and inspect finished work for completeness and quality. Maintain sandblasting equipment on a daily basis, including cleaning out filters and dust traps. Safely operate a forklift to move materials, parts, and equipment as needed. Keep accurate track of materials and parts being worked on, including staging, labeling, and status updates. Follow all safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean, organized work area. Assist with general shop tasks and support other team members as needed in a small-business environment. Report equipment issues, material shortages, or safety concerns promptly. Physical and Working Conditions Requirements Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and dusty environments. Comfortable standing, bending, reaching, and performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods. Willingness to wear appropriate PPE (respirator, protective clothing, hearing protection, etc.) throughout the shift. Required Qualifications Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Consistent punctuality and reliable attendance. Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and maintain focus in a fast-paced shop setting. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform routine equipment maintenance. Forklift operation experience or ability to safely operate a forklift (certification preferred). Strong attention to detail when tracking materials and completing jobs. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Previous sandblasting, surface preparation, or industrial painting experience. Familiarity with common blasting media and equipment. This is a physically demanding role in a small-business setting where reliability, initiative, and teamwork matter.
