5:00am-5:00pm (Mon-Fri) QPS Employment Group has a great Fabrication / Plate Shop Laborer position available at a company in Mount Pleasant, IA. This is a 1st shift position with the opportunity for hire.
Fabrication / Plate
Shop Laborer Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cut steel and other metal materials to specification using band saws, metal shears, and other cutting equipment.
- Operate stud guns and weld guns to prepare plates and components for welding operations.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and cutting dimensions.
- Measure materials accurately using tape measures, rulers, calipers, and other measuring tools.
- Prepare metal components and assemblies according to work orders and engineering drawings.
- Verify dimensions and specifications to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Handle and move materials safely throughout the fabrication process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Inspect equipment prior to use and report equipment issues or malfunctions.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support efficient workflow by ensuring materials and components are properly prepared for the welding team.

- Ability to measure accurately and work within specified tolerances.
- Ability to safely operate cutting and fastening equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Commitment to workplace safety and established procedures.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with measuring, cutting, and material handling.
- Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to heat and noise.
- Ability to operate equipment requiring precision and attention to detail.
