at Department of Children and Family Services in Chicago, Illinois, United States Job Description Position Overview The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an energetic individual to serve as Facilities Laborer. Under immediate supervision, this position will coordinate the logistics of conference room planning and arrange furniture in accordance with meeting room outline. The position will serve as laborer at various regional field office locations, moving furniture and equipment within field offices. Additionally, the position will deliver and check the quantity and quality of supplies and perform property control for the region. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is interested in helping ensure the delivery and setup of resources needed to enable our employees to do their jobs. Essential Functions Serves as Facilities Laborer Operates various types of equipment, such as pallet jacks, dollies, hand tools, ladders, power carts, stackers, postage meter, duplicating equipment, faxing and copying machinery, etc. Assists with moves of facilities Delivers and checks quantity and quality of paper supplies to ensure paper is available to all offices Performs scanning of property control on an as-needed basis Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school Preferred Qualifications 2 years of experience in a public or business organization performing facility moves of office furniture, equipment, etc. from one work site to another 2 years of experience conducting inventories of facilities for a public or business organization 2 years of experience in a public or business organization exercising basic knowledge of building maintenance equipment use and care in the performance of duties Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass a background check Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires the ability to use hand tools, power stacker, dollies, carts, and power jacks The conditions of employment listed here are incorporated and related to any of the job duties as listed in the job description About the Agency DCFS is deeply committed to the welfare and protection of children.
