Job Description

GENERAL LABORER
This is a non-exempt position under the FLSA.
Purpose:
Provide general labor services to warehouse, paint shop, mechanical, welding and electrical personnel as needed.
Typical activities:
Loads, transports and unloads materials, supplies and equipment. Performs clean-up and minor repair tasks. Cleans work area. Operate fork truck and other small equipment. Operate shop tools as needed to assist work in assigned areas. Perform other general laborer tasks as directed.
Working conditions:
Working indoor and outside; working in a dusty, noisy environment; working with hand and small power tools.
Qualifications:
Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form as well as use or hand tools and small power tools. This is heavy work requiring constant exertion of 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push or pull objects; frequent exertion of 25 to 50 pounds of force; and occasional exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force. The worker must be able to move around on foot; walk on uneven surfaces; stand constantly on a hard surface; reach; bend; climb; kneel. The dexterous use of both hand and both arms is required to operate the tools and equipment used in the work. The worker is required to see well naturally or with correction and must be able to perform the work without posing a direct threat to her/himself and/or others. Due to the contractual nature of our work, time is of the essence. The scheduling, completion, and delivery of the work make regular attendance an essential requirement of the job.
