    6:30 AM
  • 2:30 PM (7:00 AM
  • 3:00 PM during leaf season; hours may vary) Like working outdoors? Not afraid of weather, teamwork, or getting your hands dirty to keep the city moving? What You'll Do You'll support daily street operations that residents rely on
  • repairing roads, clearing debris, assisting with seasonal operations, and helping maintain safe and clean neighborhoods.
This is hands-on, physical work where no two days look the same and your effort directly improves the community. Key Responsibilities Assist with street repair, resurfacing, and alley maintenance Support seasonal operations including leaf pickup, snow removal, mowing, and street sweeping Operate hand tools, power tools, and chipper equipment Load, unload, stack, and transport materials and debris Maintain safe, clean work areas while working outdoors in all weather conditions What You Bring | Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED No prior experience required
  • training provided Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to operate basic equipment Ability to pass post-offer screening Required Certifications Valid Indiana driver's license Ability to obtain CDL A permit and CDL physical within 30 days of hire Ability to obtain CDL A license within 6 months of hire (Tanker endorsement preferred) Must be 21 years of age or older to hold CDL with the City Physical Requirements Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs Regular bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling Sustained outdoor physical activity in all seasons Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne This is a steady, full-time position with strong pay, skill development, and a clear path into skilled equipment operation and CDL work.
